@adcantara Dont disagree with you. So 28 is still young to be washed up in this era. Although maybe not if you’re a PL regular at 17. Players who get their start so young disproportionately seem to have their best years early unlike the more standard peaking mid/ late 20s.

@Jeff86256547 Think that's harsh, at 27 he was still at City playing 30+ games a season 10+ goals and was arguably Englands best player at a tournament they lost on penalties in the final. Burnout defo started at Chelsea but he was still putting up better numbers than their current lot.

@davidlynchlfc @Robbie_OR Agree re. Alonso, would add that Slots 1st season has been devalued by his 2nd. Klopp’s squad were top in March of his last season then fell away. Same squad did same thing w Slot but happened to limp over the line. Almost nothing Slot’s done since (~15 months) has looked special

@Robbie_OR Yep, nowhere near a slam dunk - has a broadly similar CV to Slot without a PL title, really. But there is still a risk here that he succeeds at Chelsea, or that you end up being forced into a managerial market in November that is weaker without him being available.

Said this when he was sacked by Real Madrid but the idea he is a guaranteed success is mental. Good manager but he's had two seasons as a manager and never really had a bad spell the same as Slot.
