Adam Sýkora dropped to the fourth line with fellow rookies Noah Laba and Jaro Chmelař and played a season-low 7:16. Here's Sullivan's explanation: "That wasn't the intent. Part of it was how the game played out. I had said to our coaching staff maybe a couple of games before, at some point, I wouldn't mind exploring putting the three kids together and see what that might look like. They can all skate. They bring some speed. (Sýkora) has got, I think, a real good relationship with Jaro, in particular, and sometimes those relationships can carry over when they compete hard for one another out there. In a perfect world, my intention was to get them more minutes in the game. There were a number of special team circumstances, and I was looking for one particular match up against (Nick) Suzuki's line, which is obviously a dynamic line… So the way kind of the game flowed, let's just say my intention was to get more minutes for that line." #NYR

lol he demoted Sykora for fucking Brodzinski Words can’t express how much I don’t like Mike Sullivan for a re-tooling team #NYR

The Vegas Golden Knights have relieved Bruce Cassidy of his duties as head coach. John Tortorella has been named head coach. #VegasBorn vgk.io/NE89y

On Adam Edström, who will be a #NYR healthy scratch for a second straight game tonight, Mike Sullivan says he wants more consistency. "What we like about Eddie's game is his size, his strength, his skating ability, his reach. He's a disruptive player...but it has to be consistent. He's got to skate, he's got to finish checks, he has to make good decisions with the puck. When he plays that way, consistently, he's an effective player. I think consistency has been the challenge. We're trying to find a balance here of maintaining a certain level of accountability, establishing a standard that we want to hold ourselves true to, and we're trying to win the game right in front of us. We're also trying to balance that with giving some of our younger players an opportunity to make an impact and see if they have an opportunity, or see where that potentially could go moving forward."

#NYR practice look: Perreault - Zibanejad - Lafrenière Cuylle - Trocheck - Raddysh Kartye - Miller - Sheary Brodzinski - Edström - Chmelař Gavrikov - Fox Robertson - Schneider Mackey - Borgen Pärssinen and Iorio are rotating in as extras.

What has kept Conor Sheary in #NYR lineup over say, Brett Berard, or other young players Mike Sullivan would want to get a look at? “Well, we've had lots of looks, all these guys. So it's not like we haven't had looks. I think what Conor brings is there's a lot of detail around his game with how he plays, whether it's without the puck, positionally, where he's at. He has a good stick. His puck pursuit game, and how he hunts pucks and forces turnovers. I think he's played well when he was playing with Labs and Tye. He scores last night with JT. He can help on the penalty kill. So there's a lot of detail around his game, and that's what I think has been his competitive advantage.”
