Am I missing any good women's sports podcasts? I am just trying to get as many in the app as I can and I feel like I am not very good at finding the one's for international women's sports. Actually I'm not good at finding the US ones too 😅

UCLA WBB's Cori Close pod w/ Athletic In the summer, had Zoom calls w/ parents, on how important it’d be to have the same message Eliminate distractions, be present focused. Don't talk about draft. Celebrate each others’ kids. If they had a complaint, come to her, not their kid

I hope UW does something with all the MBB units the conference is generating. Hopefully they'll put it towards something other than our own MBB team, which has proven to be a pretty awful ROI

@gasman206 @PuckSports I miss that MLK Hoopfest and all the coverage that used to be. Such a great way to celebrate hoops in this region.

@PuckSports I didn't do near as much as you did but one of my favorite shows of the year each year was our all day coverage of HS hoops on MLK day.

@colinokeefe @Jessecooksfood Ballard... Soon to have the most grocery stores and private pickleball courts within walking distance of any zip code in Washington. 🤣 I'm curious to see how the math plays out with all of these facilities.

asked my friend what he does for a living "I get on Zoom calls and give opinions about products" "and they pay you for that?" "$300 last call. 30 minutes." "wait, how much a month?" "$2,500 minimum" he's made $110,000 doing this I stared at my phone for a full minute here's what he actually does: THE ZOOM ARBITRAGE SYSTEM: every morning: opens 3 platforms (Respondent, User Interviews, UserTesting) applies to every qualified study (15 mins) goes back to his day every evening: checks for acceptances (10 mins) schedules 2-3 calls per week that's it THE ECONOMICS: Meta needs feedback on new features → pays $400 Google tests products before launch → pays $300 Apple wants user opinions → pays $250 they make $100M improving products you make $300 for talking WHY MOST PEOPLE DON'T KNOW THIS: Google "paid research studies" → 1,000 scam sites he spent 6 months finding the real platforms that's the only barrier THE MONEY: $150-500 per study 2-4 studies per week 30-90 mins per call $1,200-2,500/month 4 years of this = $110,000 WHY PEOPLE FAIL: they apply to 5 studies and give up they lie on screeners and get banned they ghost after getting accepted (instant blacklist) they don't know which demographics pay more THE TRUTH: he doesn't have a business he doesn't have followers he doesn't sell anything he just shows up, talks, gets paid "the algorithm doesn't know me" "the platforms do" comment "ARBITRAGE" and I'll send you the full Zoom Arbitrage breakdown (must follow for dm) most people will keep grinding to build businesses while $300 Zoom calls are sitting right there

The lesson from 1928 isn’t just about sexism in sport. It’s about stewardship of stories. We all have a responsibility to question the narratives we inherit and the ones we repeat. Ask: Is this actually what happened, or just what fits the script I already believe? Tell truer stories—about women, about toughness, about success, about yourself. Because the stories we choose don’t just describe our world; they decide who gets a chance to run.

At the 1928 Olympics, women could run something longer than a sprint for the first time. They raced the 800. Disaster quickly ensued. Just about every paper reported the same thing: 5 women dropped out, Everyone else collapsed. It was chaos. And dangerous. As a result, women would barred from anything longer than a sprint for the next 28 years. ...It was all a lie. No one struggled... A single false story set back women's athletics for 3 decades. It teaches us about the power of a story:

@matthewswspence Exactly. And financially most have realized it's actually not a great "deal" even if it does lock in housing costs for 30 years. Even if we could put $80k down (20% on a $400k mortgage) we'd be paying $391,855.59 in interest over 30 years and the actual house cost $800k ish.

What is going on at the NYT? There are two discrete reports on Mayor-elect Katie Wilson written by the same author reporting the same thing, on the same day, different tones/omitted language. Here are the hed and subheads:

@ronpdavis It's honestly such a terrible piece & so frustrating as it spends the first half glorifying Harrell...who lost. I just don't get it. Sure Katie Wilson hasn't been elected to public office but she's moved the needle through well connected organizing which is HARD to do in Seattle.

@ByEdStrong @ThaRealUDUB SB also has a legacy of always being one of the top teams and programs. Winning + a different approach to how they engage, coach, and grow athletes really does separate them.

@ThaRealUDUB I mean, UW softball has had a total of two coaches in program history, both extremely good. SB regularly outdraws BSB even after BSB got a fancy new stadium while SB is stuck in one without a real press box I want BSB to succeed, but they're not remotely comparable

@jemelehill People keep throwing stones at the straw man who is just a placeholder for the NBAs decisions. The W will never truly be free if they can’t divest. And the NBA will never let them go.

One thing that’s being overlooked and forgotten with Cathy Engelbert is that she was hand-selected by the NBA to be WNBA commissioner. If accountability is supposed to go all the way to the top, then it seems Adam Silver needs to be asked some questions, too.
