I think they will add a big bat and a secondary one and that the chances of a Bregman reunion (he'd be the bigger in a pair) increased today. The 2 of 3 Bregman/Alonso/Schwarber thing was never going to happen and I don't know why it took hold as a possibility publicly.

The Red Sox got blown away on Alonso, and now the last big FA bats are Bregman and Bo—same price range. Maybe they skipped Alonso to save it for Bregman… but when asked about him, Breslow said they’re “exploring all their options.” They’re apparently out on Bichette too. And now every team dangling a bat knows the Sox have zero leverage and will have to overpay in a trade. Same story every winter: Boston sits, everyone else acts. Tired of it. Pathetic

Giants took on all of Raffy's contract which presumably frees up some cash to extend the big three, extend Bregman, etc. Still interested in the rest of the return.
Not a great return player-to-player. Best guess is that the relationship between Raffy and the front office had deteriorated to the point that this was the only way to go and that the conversation with Henry was basically an assurance they'd find a way to trade him.
Before you ask, no, I don't like this one bit.

They obviously have struggled in this area for more than decade but three members of the rotation - Houck, Crawford and Bello - are all homegrown. The development of Tolle and Perales (once he comes from TJ) will be critical
