One of my favorite books that shares lessons relevant to sport and life is “The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho. If you haven’t read the book, it’s about a young shepherd named Santiago who embarks on a journey to find his life purpose. Here are some of my favorite lessons: 👇

@BryantFerate Not 5 hours! I’d say an 1 hour maybe 1.5 hours? And that’s with hanging out at the Y for awhile. But the cold temps and elevation add some nice challenge.

@JeffreyJBaxter Trail report says it takes about 5 hrs. You remember how long it took you?

The difference between FAKE vs REAL competitors:

Try to see opportunities where others see obstacles.

Happiness is neither a good nor reliable goal to strive for. It is unrealistic to feel happy all of the time—even if so much of our culture tells you otherwise. Better is to strive for meaning, mastery, and belonging, and let periodic happiness be a byproduct of those pursuits.

Attaining something worthwhile is often difficult, but just because it’s difficult doesn’t mean it’s worthwhile.

You want to live a purposeful life, make it about people other than yourself. That’s where the promises happen!! #soberlife #Grateful
