The new Trump administration counterterrorism strategy document is not getting nearly enough attention. The document explicitly lists “left-wing extremists,” people with “radically pro-transgender” ideologies, and “anti-fascists” alongside ISIS and cartels as top national security threats. It discusses using counterterrorism powers to “map” domestic groups, identify memberships, and target ties to organizations like Antifa. It also attacks Europe, calling for halting what it calls its “willful decline.”

The 16-page counterterrorism memo released this week identifies three threats to the United States: drug cartels and transnational gangs, legacy Islamist groups, and violent left-wing extremists. That third category is defined in the document as those whose ideology is "anti-American, radically pro-transgender and anarchist." The memo makes no mention of right-wing extremist groups. The Tree of Life Synagogue. The El Paso Walmart. The Buffalo supermarket. Highly lethal attacks with documented right-wing perpetrators. Not present in the strategy. Colin Clarke of The Soufan Center reviewed the document and said it "proclaims to be an apolitical document, which it unfortunately is not" while being "riddled with partisan accusations and snubs." He called it not a strategy but a world view - descriptive, lacking specific guidance, built almost entirely around a kinetic framework believed to have been authored by Sebastian Gorka. The document barely addresses how terrorist groups actually operate in 2026 - 3D printing, AI, encrypted platforms, drones, cryptocurrency. No mention of soft power. USAID has been gutted. All that's left is the kinetic option. Clarke: "We tried that for two decades. It didn't work. In fact, it backfired spectacularly." And: "For the money, personnel and training that goes to dealing with these groups, you have less of that to deal with other serious threats."

If reports are true that “Alligator Alcatraz” is closing and Florida won’t be reimbursed by the federal government, taxpayers deserve answers. Floridians shouldn’t be stuck paying 1.4 billion dollars for political theater while families struggle with rising costs.
