I’m a part of a few Facebook groups for ENL teachers and I’m reading about everyone’s frustrations around the NYSESLAT. One of them is that this test is not valued like the math or ELA tests. Some people don’t even believe this is a state test and just think it’s something we do

@Yohimar Really. Oh really? Beg to differ. That’s the person who is SHOCKED that English is not my first language. Sometimes I try to break it down, but.. why bother? And what does a “native speaker” sound, read and write like anyway? Throw out this wounded paradigm.

@hannahdreier The corporate owners knew all along who is working for them. There is no shock in the business world in regard to juvenile workers, just as there is no caring about horrible conditions for adult workers. Now the owners just need to activate their MoCs to help them out.
