@JanetDaby For the first time ever I cannot support #nationaladoptionweek. The cuts to the life saving ASGSF are insulting to the incredible children and families living with early trauma. It shows a complete lack of understanding of the lifelong impact of adoption.

@Helen_Whately 3. Organisations like this are a lifeline to individuals with disabilities/parents trying to gain support for their children. The current system belittles &discriminates against disabled ppl. If you haven’t walked in their shoes then please keep these awful comments to yourself.

@Helen_Whately 2. Do you realise that the forms alone don’t really count for a lot - you need evidence and LOTS OF IT! Even then you may not be awarded the benefit.

@Helen_Whately 1. Do you have any idea how daunting and difficult these forms can be for those already struggling with their health/disabilities? Example/partially completed forms are just a guide, something to give you an idea of how to explain issues - not something you could actually send in

@DavidGHFrost Thank you for supporting home educators. It is such a vital option for so many children and must be protected

It is the Lords 2nd Reading of the Schools Bill tomorrow, with its damaging provisions on home education. So it was great to meet Addison and Ben today, two home-educated children and the originators of a great new book, "Hidden Voices Speak", giving voices to them and children like them to explain why home education is so important. You can buy it for under £1 here on Amazon Kindle: amzn.eu/d/2oQGX0C I will be working to persuade the government that it is not too late to change their approach to home education and put in place less restrictive measures which give every child a proper chance at an education that suits them.

A system meant to protect, failed her. Sara Sharif endured unimaginable abuse before her life was cut tragically short. A heart-wrenching reminder of the cost of ignoring red flags & not putting children's safety at the heart of decisions.

@ChildrensComm You may need to edit the ‘do you attend education’ question which then says it’s only school and college!! What about EOTAS, Home education, alternative provisions etc ?

Day 1 of tweeting @RCSLT until there’s guidance/statement that says private SALTs reports DO NOT need verifying by a NHS SALT nor is a private report any less worthy than an NHS report.

@RBrooksTweets I will never understand the so called benefits of ‘the EHE register’ when we have situations like you describe

Home education in the news. Much hand wringing and talk of tighter regulations, safeguarding, a register. Meanwhile, in a FB group, a post from a parent whose school has advised her to deregister her child (with EBSA). The DfE really must get its own educational house in order.

@RBrooksTweets Ooh this isn’t good at all. As you say, even as a letter to parents it’s not great but this isn’t something children need to see!

I have cropped to remove school name as no interest in causing a pile on, but this doesn't seem helpful to me in terms of encouraging good attendance.

#education in the UK seems to be in crisis. Crumbling schools, mental health issues, SEND failures are in the headlines regularly. If you thought the @educationgovuk was listening, what would you have to say to them? What are your experiences?

Last month, myself & several other adoptive parents met with children’s minister David Johnston as part of the DfE’s Adopter Reference Group. We discussed many aspects of adoption support & shared Qs we had gathered from our networks. Here is a summary of his responses to our Qs;
