@Helen_Whately 3. Organisations like this are a lifeline to individuals with disabilities/parents trying to gain support for their children. The current system belittles &discriminates against disabled ppl. If you haven’t walked in their shoes then please keep these awful comments to yourself.

Along with ‘how to’ videos to make sure your benefits claim succeeds… Which is why I argued ‘sickfluencing’ on social media should be a crime… But Labour voted us down.

@Helen_Whately 2. Do you realise that the forms alone don’t really count for a lot - you need evidence and LOTS OF IT! Even then you may not be awarded the benefit.

@Helen_Whately 1. Do you have any idea how daunting and difficult these forms can be for those already struggling with their health/disabilities? Example/partially completed forms are just a guide, something to give you an idea of how to explain issues - not something you could actually send in

It is the Lords 2nd Reading of the Schools Bill tomorrow, with its damaging provisions on home education. So it was great to meet Addison and Ben today, two home-educated children and the originators of a great new book, "Hidden Voices Speak", giving voices to them and children like them to explain why home education is so important. Home education in the news. Much hand wringing and talk of tighter regulations, safeguarding, a register. Meanwhile, in a FB group, a post from a parent whose school has advised her to deregister her child (with EBSA). The DfE really must get its own educational house in order.

@RBrooksTweets Ooh this isn’t good at all. As you say, even as a letter to parents it’s not great but this isn’t something children need to see!

I have cropped to remove school name as no interest in causing a pile on, but this doesn't seem helpful to me in terms of encouraging good attendance.
