Google would see when it’s own systems had both the first- and second-best bids and then would pay the publisher as if the second bid didn’t exist, but charge the advertiser as if it did. Wow.

@cpokane @netflix @amazon Hulu, Sling, Direct TV, YouTube TV aren’t going away any time soon. Netflix is trying to lessen its reliance on licensing w/ originals as content owners erect walls (Peacock). CTV programmatic will fuel the walled gardens and cord-cutting services for a while.

@cpokane @netflix @amazon Amazon isn’t hoovering up what you view and advertising to you? NBC’s model w/ Peacock is doing well with tons of content from the vault and live sport (my EPL fix) for “free” or pay for no ads. And then sport / live events which you don’t timeshift.

I'm wondering outloud... Is CTV REALLY scalable from a programmatic point of view? How many fake fireplace CTV apps can there be? I watch TV via @netflix and @amazon.. No ads. Where I come from Pluto is a rubbish asteroid, quasi-planet - not quality content. DISCUSS.

@vinnyflood All of this is rather easy. Getting Big AdTech to step out of their bubble and do it is the challenge. I’m surprised @GMktgPlatform hasn’t done anything like this yet because it’s free positive PR for them!

@JeremiahBudzik Wouldn't be that hard - an easy workaround would be for government ads to be served as House ads for all unsold.

Just thinking - could publishers use their unsold inventory for something positive/productive/informative? Preferably something that aligns with government messaging in each market.

@vinnyflood I don’t know if it’s in the code anymore. Here’s what to do: G reaches out to the philanthropic orgs and solicits the ads in each country (local health orgs for example). Pubs can choose from the pool and traffick accordingly.
