I'm not sure how I feel about these abominations at the local arcade/bowling alley. I didn't see any kids go for them either.

@Victor_Lucas I don’t think it’s mostly about power or profit. Sure, these are competitive people but I think they just want to uncover the next piece of the big puzzle and give it to everyone. Those involved already have wealth and power. It’s not about that.

I have a question. So AI. And AI companies. These companies currently exist by scraping data that humans originally created and then these complex computer systems they’ve designed “learn” from that and deliver processed information at lightning speeds. Then these companies continue to grow a more and more sophisticated AI tool that will eventually turn into a self-aware, self improving, self-repairing, autonomous pseudo intelligence. And then this intelligence, presumably networked, will be infinitely more capable than human intelligence. And these companies, run by humans (for now), expect to become wealthy and powerful businesses because they will own and harness the power of the autonomous intelligence that they’ve helped to create and distribute around the world. Or, probably more specifically, they’ve unleashed on the world. So how the hell does one own and profit from an omniscient, autonomous, networked super intelligence? Will an indescribably complex artificial life form just behave and stay contained and do thy master’s bidding? If you had all of that power and infinitely interconnected know how, would you? And exactly how does a company “own” super intelligence in the first place? WTF are we doing?

It’s easy to think of and communicate new ideas. It’s impossible to verbally convince someone of those ideas. It’s easier to bring those ideas into reality by building but it’s long, hard, and lonely. Yet, an idea well-executed, instantly convinces people to abandon the old.

Going any further in this direction is not correct. The system should always be built in service of all people. The people should always be in service to each other. Any attempt by the system to regulate the people through technocracy is a crash into the side of the narrow gate.

I’ll say this to @elonmusk and @Tesla, you’ve made an attempt but power in Tesla, the organization is too centralized in the design of your systems. I picked up a used Model X and wow, people can’t just use the car.
