Tomorrow is the Ides of March, so everyone should be thinking even more than usual about the Roman Republic and Empire. In honor of it, I'm doing a book drawing at my 'stack, but might as well do one here too. Retweet to enter! Will draw 2 names Monday. amazon.com/Cultural-Chris…

@rhford123 We're considering offering a private password-protected live-stream for our members to watch when providentially hindered from attending in person. Haven't started, but probably will in '26

Seems like a lot of churches started streaming during COVID and never stopped. If your church streams its worship service, what's the purpose?

Travel tip: Wyndham Travelodge is all Travelodge and no Wyndham. Stuck in Atlanta after thunderstorms cancelled tons of flights. Hope to get home to Pittsburgh in the morning. #pcaga was encouraging, but the travel is kind of ruining the week.

@philipammar @DannyMorgan0 Phil, even if it passes at GA (I doubt it will; we have very good arguments for the minority report), it will unlikely pass the required number of presbyteries this year.

PCA inside baseball: The distribution of the Lord's supper (who physically passes out the elements) is as circumstantial a part of the worship of God as it gets. To elevate this to a form (meaning it is regulated by Scripture, either through positive (do this) or negative (do not do this)) is a dangerous confusion of categories. See Gaffin's article from the OPC on a similar topic on the public reading of Scripture, and similarly, @CAHutch1990 masterful article on the role of the laity in public worship. Churches whose conscience tells them only officers should distribute elements should follow their conscience. However, they cannot bind the consciences of other churches and their practices where Scripture has not done so. To become restrictive where there is latitude is extra-biblical. Furthermore, this is a violation of our policy in PP1. The burden of proof falls on anyone elevating the circumstances of worship to the forms or elements of worship. I hope not to see our denomination go beyond our polity, our confessional standards, and Scripture to restrict practices that our constitution and our Lord do not.

@derekradney I'm preaching through 1 Timothy and 2:4, God, "who desires all people to be saved..." often becomes about the doctrines of grace and not about the urgency to pray for (and participate in) the evangelism of all people...

I’m thankful for Christendom, but one challenge it presents to the church is the habit of reading Scripture primarily with denominational disputes in mind rather than through a redemptive historical lens. For example, when Paul argued that it is no longer heritage but faith in Christ that brings a person into covenant with God, we should hear this as a statement about the expansion of the people of God to the families of all the nations and not just of Israel, but instead, Christendom readers impose the lens of baptism debates and confuse the argument.

I've always been an early Developer's Beta iOS adopter. This is the first time I'm actually disappointed in Apple. Just got 16ProMax in December '24. When it's paid off, I'm going to seriously consider Android. Apple needs to do more in those 2.5 years to keep my business.

I've been off of Twitter since about January (will check 5 minutes every few days/weeks from computer). My FOMO has pretty much gone away; my stress has also lowered. And I've been able to focus more time loving my local church/community. I highly recommend it.

#PCAGA @kevinjoseph17 and I have space at our AirBNB for GA. Is anyone still looking for lodging? You'd have to pay your way, but there's room for 2 additional roommates. Let me know!

Now seems like as good a time as ever to recommend The Whole Christ by Sinclair Ferguson. I just finished it today. Should have read it years ago. Will need to reread it in years to come.
