Associate Pastor Redeemer Pres. Austin. Growing in grace.

All, I'm thrilled to share that in May, I'll start leading a new church in East Austin. Currently, there is 1 church for every 850-900 people in Austin. But the # of churches is decreasing, and the non-Xian pop is growing, making Aus a strategic mission field for church planting.

Of all the learning methods, lecture is the least effective (5% retention) of them all. If this is the case why do we still do so much of it in the church?

Elijah Wood is finally reading The Lord of the Rings 25 years after playing Frodo Wood proceeded to made it even worse for himself by pointing out that they actually started shooting the Lord of the Rings films in October 1999, meaning he’s actually had 27 years to read the books and still hasn’t yet. “I’ll at least say this: There’s an update,” he hedged. “I have started them.” Colbert and Wood then exchanged a handshake over his small, but important progress. “Thank you,” Wood said. Referencing Tolkien’s high-fantasy masterwork, he continued, “And they’re incredible!”

Kids will never feel the gameday pressure of having to start an essay at 2am and finish it by 8am before the deadline. Totally lost. Absolutely no evolutionary pressure towards a clutch factor anymore.

🧵 on the Regulative Principle of Worship by @DrJohnFrame from Worship in Spirit and in Truth “[T]he regulative principle limits what we may do in worship, but it also allows different sorts of applications, and therefore a significant area of liberty.”
