Hotel Garni Ongaro in Italy has informed Israeli guests they are unwelcome simply because they are Israeli. I can only imagine the pain and sense of injustice I would feel if a hotel denied me a place to stay simply because of my identity, being Palestinian. This is collective punishment. I have many Israeli-Jewish friends—people who travel around the world, dedicating their lives to advocating for peace and coexistence, tirelessly working to end the war. Refusing to host individuals based on nationality or identity is not only wrong—it’s a vile, discriminatory act that is both illegal and morally bankrupt.

There are no words for what is going in now in Amsterdam. This is what happens when antisemitism is allowed to foster all over the world. We are all praying for the safety of our brothers!

Dealing with some heavy news: My dad’s been diagnosed with esophageal cancer. We’ll know more about the prognosis in the coming days. For now, please keep our family in your thoughts. My dad is an Army veteran, a football coach and a Chicano community activist. He’s a fighter.

Thankfully there was only one minor injury. Several people were able to dive out of harms way. The driver, an instructor at the business, was cited for a traffic violation.

Peter Thiel has a comment that I love: "Things that are real sciences don't need to put 'science' at the end of it." Its Physics. Not Physics Science. Its Chemistry. Not Chemistry Science. Its Biology. Not Biology Science. Its Electrical Engineering. Not Electrical Engineering Science With science, you will learn exactly the same things, no matter where you go to school. While this may seem like a bad thing, I think its a great thing. The laws of physics don't change just because you went to a state school vs Ivy League. Now, if you think about other "sciences" however, there is a lot of variance depending on where you go to school. Social Science? Political Science? Even Computer Science varies wildly from school to school. Some universities try to create a mystique that you will be taught something or by someone or meet someone that will change your life when pursuing these other "sciences". This may be true in some circumstances but the odds of success are probably much higher for the broader population if you can focus on indelible content (ie real science) that describes how the world works. And you can learn THAT, on a level playing field with everyone, anywhere.
