🚨 Moments ago, I called @RepMarkWhiteTN to let him know I’ve alerted Senate leadership that I plan to make a motion tomorrow on the Senate floor for the Lt. Governor to appoint the MSCS Local Intervention Conference Committee. This will be the final step toward passage so we can finally fix our failing school system after decades of poor management and outcomes. When I launched #MakeMemphisMatter, my goal was to tackle crime and solve our education crisis. Thanks to the Memphis Safe Task Force, crime has been cut in half. Now it’s time to fix education. I won’t back down. We have a city to save! @CSexton25 @ltgovmcnally @SenJohnson @YagerTweets @WilliamLamberth

Are you thinking about starting a business? Some might think you should begin by incorporating a company, building a website, purchasing equipment, getting insurance, working on your pricing strategy, making some ads, and setting everything up. Wrong. Your first step is to go out and find 20 potential customers willing to pay for your product or service. Once you have secured at least five paying customers who commit with cash deposits, invest in the tools, deliver the product or service and collect the remaining balance for the completed job. Then repeat the process. If you’re not starting this way, you’re wasting your time. Remember: If people truly need what you’re offering, they’ll pay you today to solve their problem. If you can’t get the money, you’re not solving a real problem. It’s time to reevaluate your business idea and try again.

@JohnMartin929 I’ve wasted enough money on season tickets the last 3 years. I don’t care who they draft, I’m not investing in this franchise anymore.

Believe it or not, this same front office built the Grizzlies team that finished second in the West two years in a row!

@JohnMartin929 @PAKA_FLOCKA Front office has not proven they can build anything. We’ve traded good draft picks each year and given picks away to trade away their misses.

Everyone’s reading this as a valuation story. The real story is compute leverage. SpaceX launches 90% of global commercial payload. xAI operates Colossus, the largest AI training cluster on Earth with 100,000 H100s. Starlink has 7,000+ satellites generating $11.8 billion in recurring revenue. Musk just vertically integrated space infrastructure with AI infrastructure. The math here is interesting. SpaceX can launch Starlink satellites for roughly $15 million per mission. Competitors pay $100 million+. That cost advantage funded Starlink’s growth from zero to 8 million subscribers in five years. Now apply that logic to AI. xAI owns its compute instead of renting from cloud providers. It trains on X’s data firehose instead of licensing datasets. It’s projecting profitability by 2027, two years ahead of OpenAI’s 2029 target. The combined entity controls the full stack: launch capacity, orbital bandwidth, terrestrial data, and frontier AI models. The $1.25 trillion IPO target assumes one thing most analysts are missing. SpaceX’s direct-to-cell service with T-Mobile goes live this year. That’s not satellite internet for rural areas. That’s global 5G coverage for every smartphone on Earth. Starlink revenue projections jump to $40-100 billion by 2027 once direct-to-cell scales. xAI plugged into that distribution changes the AI race entirely. Grok accessible on every phone, everywhere, with no app download required. OpenAI has Microsoft. Anthropic has Amazon and Google. Musk just built his own distribution layer from orbit.

JUST IN: Elon Musk's SpaceX and xAI valued at $1.25 trillion following merger.

I've done thousands of business dinners. A few keys to success: 1) Get there early and settle in. I grab a table and place myself in a seat facing the door so I can see my guest(s) walk in. 2) Have your order picked out so you can 100% focus on your guests. Tell the server to add a 20% tip to the bill at the end so you do not have to think twice. Ask them to bring a bill at the end with the total already calculated. 3) You are hosting the meal- be prepared to order apps for the table. If you have multiple guest fill the table. $75 in apps will make even senior execs go gaw gaw and that reflects on you. 4) Divide the meal into 4ths. First (before cocktails) is time to catch up on family or vacation travel - check out their social media in advance for tips on where they have been. Second, after apps arrive ask about their business - good, bad, ugly. Ask penetrating questions and be really interested....this shows. Third, the entree arrives, now it is your turn. Talk about your industry and trends the exec would care about. Do not make the "ask" but be a smart briefer to the exec. Ideally you deliver some "aha" moments that the exec will take back and talk about. I work really hard to make this section relevant and memorable to the exec. Fourth, when the desert/check arrive you are at bat. Quickly make the ask for help or a meeting. "I would sure love to present credentials on . What is the best way to make that happen?" Short, sweet and ask them for advice about how to accomplish the ask. 5) Payment - keep the credit card out of your wallet and in your pants pocket. Hand it to the server at the right time BEFORE the check comes out. Sign the bill as quickly as possible. Minimize the financial transaction but know that everyone loves a free meal. 6) Departure- stand and thank your guest with a firm handshake. Thank them for their time and their friendship. Don't delay. They really want to get home to spouse or family at this point. 7) Valet line - Can be small talk, but I've had people tell me about huge deals or big things they are working on in the line. LISTEN and let them talk. 9) Afterward - When I get in my car, I write or dictate into my iPhone everything I learned. Every detail. I will process the raw into my CRM the next day. Smile as you drive home - you have done something many cannot do - held a master class on how to host an executive at a meal. Onward!
