Anderson Cooper’s high school math teacher, Yves Volel, returned to his home country of Haiti and ran for president in 1987 but was later assassinated.
Despite the Haitian government's efforts to destroy all the recordings, CBS News was able to broadcast audio of the shooting. “It was an extraordinary thing when I was a teenager to witness… it continued my desire to learn more about Haiti,” Cooper told 60 Minutes Overtime.

Since 2002, the International Criminal Court has prosecuted 33 cases. 32 out of those 33 have been African. Apparently no crime worthy of ICC prosecution has been committed anywhere on earth except in Africa for the past 24 years.
Now they are making noises about prosecuting the Tanzanian government for last year’s election-related violence (but not the actual instigators and culprits). This was the sort of ludicrously one-eyed decision that made Burundi, Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger leave that institution, and like the rest of the continent, Tanzania will have to make a choice soon.
We will either remain voluntarily trapped within institutions built to cage and target us, or walk away and build our own fit-for-purpose institutions.

After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today.
I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.
It has been an honor serving under @POTUS and @DNIGabbard and leading the professionals at NCTC.
May God bless America.

A pattern that I've noticed studying CIA operations is that Western countries are consistently passing colonial projects between each other.
For example, a CIA asset may go in to do reconnaissance on something like locally owned mines in Brazil. Then someone tied to another Western intelligence service from Israel or France might pay an assassin to kill the head of the Union at that mine and other local assets to instigate violence. Then after the violent riots break out, everything gets shut down and the profits are lost a Canadian company may come in and offer bottom dollar to reopen the defunct mine. Every actor participating will receive some portion of the profits... But they intentionally avoid having everything carried out by one country So the chain of events leading to the takeover can be plausibly deniable.
I imagine that's what this is. We also know the UK is involved.

This story has not gotten enough attention. A senior French military official was killed in Iraqi Kurdistan by an Iranian drone two days ago. No details have been provided by the French as to why he was there in the first place, except saying it was "defensive". According to the Iranians, Iraqi Kurdish authorities tipped off Tehran that the French were in Kurdistan seeking to arm and help Iranian Kurdish militias to attack Iran. Tehran responded immediately with drone attacks that killed one and left several French soldiers wounded. Clearly, all details are not known yet, but this is likely a significant development. france24.com/en/middle-east…

ICE did it again - released a detainee far from her home without notifying her family.
Three days after having an ankle monitor put on by ICE, 31 year old Daphy Michel was found unresponsive at a bus station. She died later that day.
Daphy was seeking asylum in the US. Her brother lives in the US and has TPS status.
She had a hearing scheduled for April on her immigration case.
Her brother was waiting to hear when she would be released so he could bring her home.
ICE hasn’t answered questions from Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 about when Daphy arrived at the ERO Pittsburgh office, when she received the ankle monitor, how long she was in custody, and where & when she was released.

Haitian immigrant last seen in ICE custody—found dead on the street 3 days later. Agents drove her 1 hour away from home for processing—then released without notifying her family. Her body was found near a bus stop. Police say she had "significant mental health episode" that landed her in county jail. But ICE picked her up after judge dismissed all charges and drove her 1 hour away to Pittsburgh. "Told her brother charges were dismissed on Thursday. She doesn't come out on Friday. He gets a call on Monday that she's dead," lawyer explained. "It seems perfectly reasonable if you're going to take someone all the way up here and that far out of their element—you could just as easily have driven them back." Daphy Michel, only 31 years old, was living and working in Penny under Temporary Protected Status as a Haitian refugee.

Now he’s on stage saying you’ll pay HIM to access intelligence. Just like a water meter.
He stole all of your data. He built the product with your work. And now he’s going to bill you to use it…
