Cessna pilot was at fault (primary responsibility).Key facts (confirmed by Austrian police and news reports as of May 24, 2026): The paraglider (44-year-old woman) was flying straight ahead on a normal route from Schmittenhöhe launch site toward Piesendorf over Pinzgauer Hütte. The Cessna 172 (28-year-old pilot on a sightseeing flight from Glemm Valley to Zell am See Airport) overtook her from behind and struck her with the propeller. She spun, deployed her reserve parachute, and landed safely with only minor bruises. The Cessna landed safely at the airport with minor fabric damage.

The paraglider was able to pull her rescue parachute and land safely shortly after the incident on Saturday.
According to police, the 44-year-old Austrian had started from Schmittenhöhe in the direction of Piesendorf. Above the Pinzgauer Hütte, she collided at 1:15 p.m. with the Cessna piloted by a 28-year-old.
The pilot of the Cessna, which flew from the Glemm Valley in the direction of Zell am See, was able to land the aircraft safely at Zell am See Airport.
