Great question from @stephenasmith: who decides what counts as gain-of-function research, scientists, Congress, or a jury? My answer: stop hiding behind the definition. EcoHealth's own emails thank NIH for turning their "gain-of-function" money back on. Fauci's team used the term themselves. The real question was never semantics. It was whether this research was dangerous and whether it should have been funded at all.
