Zach Cregger says his RESIDENT EVIL is light on zombies, heavy on T-Virus mutants.
He tells @IGN, "This movie doesn’t utilize zombies that much. It’s much more focused on the weird creature stuff than the zombies."
"You have this opportunity for the T-Virus to do all these really fascinating things to the human body, and to the world around you, and so to just limit it to zombies feels like a squandered opportunity," Cregger explains. "So I tried to really vary it up."
There’s something about losing his signature tuxedo that’s even more jarring than race swapping him (race swap discourse is always a red herring). You can tell they’re trying to drag the corpse of this 1960s character into a younger body, and him in those modern clothes just makes him look like a Florida retiree trying to look hip. The funny thing is if you called this “Generic British Spy: The Game” and changed all the names nobody would think “oh, this is James Bond”.
@NemesisDragoon6@CultureCrave I would like that if they do it properly, imagine a RE2 like series of events where they just beat him and then he comes back again and again and again always more mutated
Zach Cregger on the divided reaction to his 'Resident Evil' film 🧟♂️
"There are so many people that clearly really want the video game, meaning the characters and story from the video game, and anything different than that is really not welcomed. I didn’t realize how passionate some people were about that"
"But if I did that I don’t think I’d be creatively fulfilled, and I don’t even think they would enjoy it. If I just did the story of the games, I think the most diehard fans would be bummed ... I don’t know what to do about it"

@Jesuslo93403263@keychaine@ThatOneGeezer@DiscussingFilm The more you talk the more evident it becomes that simply placing the resident evil name in the title that you'll defend anything despite how inaccurate everything is about the film.
@RazorDak@keychaine@ThatOneGeezer@DiscussingFilm But you left out key details that the world of RE has other oddly phenomenons besides the outbreak.
Mother Miranda has the power to generate heat and blast fireballs, why not also consider the snow as a part of another entity's powers.
Ridiculous....
@RazorDak@mountainnegro@SFWsalesgirl@DiscussingFilm As long as it is scary and has magical creatures and superpowers. It's Resident Evil.
You guys are so pity...btw Ethan Winters is the best protagonist in RE FRANCHISE.
No don't let the director or the studio off the hook, if you're going to make a film based on the game series it needs to have some connection to the series. Characters, locations, literally anything. The little they've shown us has not shown a crumb of RE.
You saying "let it go" is enabling them.
@sickkas@SFWsalesgirl@DiscussingFilm Oh look another Resident Evil 7 & 8 hater
Go cry somewhere else 😂
You're salty the main character in the movie is inspired by Ethan Winters aka the best Resident Evil protagonist no cap
@SFWsalesgirl@DiscussingFilm Honestly i don’t mind if they make a different character but it has to feel like resident evil this doesn’t feel like resident evil
@DiscussingFilm Not really interested in this one. When I think Resident Evil, I am thinking of Jill and Chris, not some nobody running into zombies and monsters. This just seems like a new zombie movie. Probably going to pass on this one.
@SFWsalesgirl@DiscussingFilm Ethan Winters is better anyway than those flops you've mentioned
That guy defeated a bunch of vampires, werewolves, witches, psychopaths and many creatures.
@mjarbo@Alvin315114081 And his delusional fans want his box office poison ass to take over the lead role of James Bond.
Henry is a box office poison, always was and always will be.
