Nobody is attacking the fans. All that's happening is that whiny fans are attacking a director for adding an original story to the franchise with his own artistic vision instead of adapting stories that have been told too many times in the games into live action in a worse form.

(3/3) the character writing & characterization has improved a bit in recent years (though the actual story telling needs serious improvement), but I feel like many are trying to rewrite what RE actually is & has been for decades into something it's not they want it to be.

I cannot speak for all Resident Evil fans, but when I think "Resident Evil", I'm far more likely to think of the RE1 Mansion, R.P.D. Police Station, the Baker House, a zombie, a Licker, etc, before I think of any of the characters. That's what pops up into my head usually.

I'm really tired of talking about that Resident Evil movie discourse but one last thing I'll say is that this franchise is actually in a really great position with consistent great games for almost 10 years considering how much it has fans who are so unbearable.

@master1ous @RinoTheBouncer You don't have to make a 3rd person shooter the entire time. That was it. So no RE7 didn't save anything as RE2R wouldn't picked up the weight anyway, as people enjoyed that game more regardless.

Resident Evil 7 was not a good Resident Evil game. It may have paid homage in some elements shared with a plethora of games in the genre, but it strays just as far from the original formula as Resident Evil 5 did🚀 In terms of characters and story, it was cringe and Resident Evil is ALWAYS better when it has heroes we know and love. And also, no. It did not “save” Resident Evil, as RE6 is among the best selling games in the series and its RE2 (2019) that was the return to form, and would’ve happened anyway with or without RE7 and would’ve done just as great. And trying to use this game as proof that Zach Cregger’s movie will be good, is laughable. Fight me🎤 #REBHFun
