#Jets didn’t have any great options for ‘26 QB, and the plan is for a rookie in ‘27 (hopefully can sit 8+ weeks). Geno Smith is a feel good story and a competent professional who gets to finish what he started. Essentially at vet minimum there’s nothing bad about this

Trade: The Miami Dolphins are sending Minkah Fitzpatrick to the New York Jets in exchange for the 2026 seventh-round pick from the Chargers, per ESPN sources. The Jets will sign Fitzpatrick to a three-year, $40 million deal, per his agent Drew Rosenhaus.

Membou, Fashanu, Tippmann is an awesome young core, but you mitigate the impact of your biggest strength if you rely on two backup-caliber players at the other spots. Myers is a fine fringe starter who is passable as the lone weak link. That plan falls apart if LG is also weak.

This would be a very disappointing way for the Jets to approach the OL this offseason. I imagine the plan here would be to use another top-50 pick on an iOL. But you run the risk of backing yourselves into a corner and/or entering the year with two weak links. Bad strategy IMO.
