Explosions and gunfire heard on the Air Force Academy today - what’s going on????

We lost our ability to broadcast at KRDO13 around 5:30 am. We have crews working to restore our broadcast. Sorry for the interruption. Good Morning America will be on channel 13 until we fix our technical outage.

This is not the announcement we wanted to make. Due to extreme fire danger, critically dry vegetation, and multiple large wildfires burning across Colorado, all permitted Independence Day fireworks displays in Colorado Springs have been canceled. This decision was made after careful evaluation by Mayor Yemi Mobolade, the Colorado Springs Fire Department, the Colorado Springs Police Department, and our public safety partners. Current fuel moisture levels in Colorado Springs are comparable to those recorded before the Waldo Canyon Fire, creating an extreme wildfire risk for our community. We know this is disappointing, especially as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States and Colorado's 150th birthday. We share that disappointment. But protecting our community, our firefighters, and our first responders has to come first. Our hope is to celebrate together when conditions are safe to do so. Thank you to our community and to our partners, including Sports Corp, for understanding and supporting this decision. The Aspen Acres fire at the Pueblo Co/Custer Co. border started this morning, and it's exploded. In just a few hours it's now 2,476 acres. We're live on @KRDO_13 at Noon with the latest and live reports.

Another fire is popping up in southern CO. Another is burning in Fremont Co, and two large fires in Ouray and in Mesa County, the latter of which has killed 3 firefighters. Monsoon season can't come soon enough.

Awaiting the press conference where the Pueblo DA will announce charges against the Cotter brothers, arrested this AM after 24 bodies were found inside a secret room last Aug. New detail according from attorney: some remains were found in a “Rubbermaid trash can.”

BREAKING: Brian Cotter, the former Pueblo Co. Coroner, accused of storing several bodies in a secret room in his private mortuary in Pueblo, is under arrest. More details to come.

@BiGSr I would only ask if all prisoners being released are given this same treatment? I'm sure the most disappointed are her supporters who showed up in the middle of the night waiting for her. I think we all wanted to hear her candid response.

KRDO waited outside Tina Peters' prison since 12am, the moment she was eligible for parole. We went live all morning waiting for her possible release. Moments ago, this paper release was given. No email. It appears she was snuck out of a side exit in the dark away from press.

Former Mesa Co. Clerk and Recorder has been released from prison in Pueblo. She was only 18 mo. into a 9 year prison sentence for election tampering following Trump's 2020 loss. Trump was pushing CO Gov. Polis for a pardon. Polis commuted her sentence recently.
