@LukeBarnett I do not get who this appeals to, and I say this as someone who watches General Hospital religiously. But actors should be able to get paid where ever there is money to be paid.

@maximum_z Maybe about two years ago? I tweeted about wanting to read more scripts and you responded. Not sure if i read the same one you submitted but it was excellent so I assume whatever you submitted this year was pretty good.

@maximum_z Anyway, all this is to say that the early round reads are in some ways a lottery. Some scripts are very clearly not there. I’ve read yours so I know that’s not the case. But others, it can really be how the reader was feeling that day. Sorry for the essay lol.

@maximum_z And I moved it on because it wasn’t fair to the writer to pass because it of that. That script is a semi finalist currently and tbd on it. But if I hadn’t caught myself, it might not have placed (there’s a second reader but would they read it closely or just agreed?

@SPMJM I keep seeing this advice about growing ton TikTok to get tv writing jobs and I’m like…these are not the same thing. Also most writers aren’t performers. Also these are not the same thing.

…lol what are we doin here: “These sites were niceties…but also they got a lot of people signed but forget about that just post videos on TikTok.” Whew. Screenwriters, all bias aside, this is garbage—listen to people who are on the ground floor.

@wil_da_beast630 I have dual citizenship with a country where women don’t change their last names at marriage. I doubt I’ll ever get married, but if I do, I would keep my name just to avoid having two different legal names on two different passports. If that’s a red flag, he’s not the one for me

In a purely theoretical sense, I could not care less if my wife wanted to take my last name - her father could have been a war hero. But, in PRACTICE, this is an "end it after two dates" red flag. We have a patrilineal naming custom in the USA, because we DO, and only the most disagreeable 5% of "rads" and foreigners object to this.

@katrosenfield I didn’t. I liked the messiness of it. But a few readers were like “but how could she?” Idk, he’s hot? (Her actual answer). It’s a comedy. Let it be. Political art just needs to evolve. And be good.

@katrosenfield I think political art is fine, but a lot of what we got the past few years was very bad. And couldn’t do anything that wasn’t clear cut who is right/wrong. I have a pilot about a democrat running for office and she’s sleeping with a republican. Told to take that out a few times

someone made a tiktok asking if any other women woke up at 3 am the night of the election with a *knowing* that trump had won, and it was so bizarre bc i totally did. like, i was *jolted* awake at 3 am and could barely make myself check my phone.

@CartoonsHateHer @Reichwriting I just had this argument in one of my very liberal group chats. I phrased it as “do you want to do right or be right?” It’s interesting watching the evolution of this as a liberal person who has always been secretly a little skeptical (also that I’m now ok saying this out loud)

@Reichwriting I can’t quite describe it, but it’s like an unhelpful and unproductive superiority complex where being smarter and more empathetic than other people is more important than actually doing anything

there’s a certain type of talk from liberals that I think has been fairly toxic/damaging and I’m seeing the overall vibe shift against it in real time among other libs, normally I don’t like infighting but it needs to happen
