So… I quit my job to become a full time caregiver for my mom 🎉 it has been a long time coming and I’m thrilled! I’ll still need to find ways to make money, but I hope y’all will come along on this journey with me! 💜 #caregiver #ENDALZ

@JillyaneMarie I’m circling back to this post. I have given your book to several people and I’m looking to buy a couple more. A friend is going through some rough cancer treatment, and loves cats. I think a cat version would be a good follow up book!

When I left my job to become a full-time caregiver, I knew I’d need to find a way to earn an income. Luckily, my mom is my biggest cheerleader, and she is now the “model” for my new side business, LoveLind 💜 It’s short for “Love Linda” (it’s named after her 😊)

@Dementiafriendx Glad you’re getting a tiny bit of sunshine! I always wish we could trade sun/rain/weather across the globe to balance everybody out 😆 If only that were possible!

@Mikeo56977865 We are doing well overall 💜 I also thought my mom had a UTI recently, but it came back negative, so it has instead taken us down another medical pathway with lots of tests and doctor visits going on at the moment. I know you understand all of that!

@Daniellemiula Thanks for continuing the conversation, Danielle! It certainly is a muddy issue with pros/cons on each side — and there can be a wide-range of issues for unique situations. It’s not easy 💜

We need to normalize conversations around installing cameras in the home. I am sure caregivers are debating using cameras. They have decided not to cause they worry about their loved one's privacy. However, it's limiting them from self-care and being a healthy caregiver.
Jillian@JillyaneMarie

@Jennifer_Fink When I first installed a camera in my mom’s living room, we discussed it (she was at a point in her dementia where she understood). She had fallen three times in a year and didn’t live with me. Our agreement was I would only use it if I called her phone and she didn’t answer.

@Jennifer_Fink All that to say - it is a much more complicated topic than can be summed up in a few tweets, but I’m very grateful for the technology choices I have available.

@Jennifer_Fink Honestly, I’m not sure I could have been a caregiver as long as I have without the motion sensors, cameras, and door alarms. They allow me to shower, sleep, and even take 10-15 min walks outside the house. They are my best self care tool and best tool for keeping mom in my home.

For those of you who installed cameras in your loved ones homes, did you ever discuss this need with them? How would you feel if someone installed cameras to watch you? I'm not against cameras, but there is a bit of an "ick" feeling when I think about using them in my caregiving
