I need to talk about my neighbors because I have been holding this in for too long. They had a birthday party this weekend. For one of their kids. In their backyard. I counted six children and two adults. There were balloons. There was a cake on a folding table. It lasted maybe two hours in the middle of the afternoon. And I am sorry but who is going to tell people that you cannot just do this. The noise. Six children making the sound that six children make. For two hours. On a Saturday. I had things I wanted to do in my own home and instead I had to listen to a party I was not invited to and would not have attended anyway. The cars. Two extra cars parked on the street near my house. On the public street, yes, but near my house, which means in front of the area I consider to be my general zone. And the balloons. One of them came loose and drifted into my yard and I had to be the one to deal with a stray balloon on my own property because of a party that had nothing to do with me. They did not warn me. No note, no heads up, no hey we are having a small thing on Saturday. They just decided to have a celebration in a yard that shares a fence with mine and let me find out about it by hearing it. If you are going to host an event, even a small one, the neighbors should be consulted. We share an environment. My Saturday is part of that environment and they spent it without asking. I am aware some people will say it was just a kids birthday party. To those people I would say it is never just anything when it affects the people around you.

For weeks we heard about Texas Tech wanting to support Sorsby, give him counseling, not abandon him, etc. Are they still willing to do that without him playing in games for them? Sorsby may be out of playing options, but he can still be a student where he has enrolled.

It may not be fair, and it may very well be a CBA violation, for the NFL to not allow Brendan Sorsby into the supplemental draft. Still, Brendan Sorsby's best play could be to accept the outcome and prepare for the 2027 draft. nbcsports.com/nfl/profootbal…

I can't stand Texas Tech... but that started way before Sorsby 🤣. But I think I am on Tech's side with this situation. Why? Sorsby is the Villian here and Cincinnati is the enabler. UC knew about the gambling in 2024 and didn't report it to the NCAA. Read the court docs if you haven't. There is also no evidence that says TTU or IU knew anything about the gambling until March when the world found out. At that point he was already at Tech. Now, should they play him? No. The game is bigger than one, above average but not quite elite QB that they'll have for only one year. Will they play him? Yes. Can I blame them? No. Why is it their responsibilty to not play him, regardless of if it is the right thing to do for the collective sport or not, when the courts have said he cannot be impeded from playing until the temporary injunction is over in February? In case no one has been paying attention, amatuerism is over in college athletics. It's been over for years. Especially since 2021 when NIL started. Every college has been essentially forced to become extremely selfish if they ever want to win, and that is what Texas Tech is trying to do. So who is the villian behind the villian? Who is the real enemy? The NCAA. They have refused to update their governance since NIL (which they also screwed up mind you) which is why they continue to lose court case after court case. They are still trying to enforce an amatuer model in a NIL world. They can't have their cake and eat it too. That is the message the judicial system has been send to them for years. College and Pro-levels are basically the same now, except for one MAJOR issue... Pros have structured rules through collective bargaining (which is exactly what college athletics needs), and Pro Organizations have shields that the NCAA does not have. The NCAA has to change their governance soon or they will become obsolete and left in the dust. Also, the "Protect College Sports Act" is not going to do it, in case anyone is wondering. So, it's easy to be mad at Texas Tech right now. But ask yourself; Big picture, where should our anger really be directed?

@News4SA I hate hate hate the black-and-white argument. I wish it could be avoided. A push or a shove doesn’t justify grabbing a weapon. Instead, turn around and push and shove him back. Hell, punch him if you want to, but leave the weapons out of this.

I go back to the initial hearing. Kessler spoke for 45 minutes. Cited cases that supported Sorsby’s position. Spoke about how the NCAA is inconsistent in it's enforcement and messaging and made a case for why Sorsby’s mental health couldn't be used against him. The NCAA walked up, did not challenge anything that Kessler cited and agreed to the facts of the case as portrayed by Kessler. Claimed that they think Sorsby is faking his gambling addiction with no evidence to support their claim and then sat down. If you don't like the outcome, blame the freaking NCAA. If they were even a little bit competent, they would have won the injunction.

@secnumbersguy But we haven’t done anything wrong yet. We were unfortunate and recruited a guy in the portal that was damaged goods. We helped him find some help. Sorsby did the rest. If he never takes a snap for Texas Tech, would the world lighten up on us?

It’s important to keep Texas Tech’s history in mind when looking at the Brendan Sorsby situation. The Red Raiders have NEVER won a National Championship. They have NEVER even finished a season ranked in the Top 6 of the AP Poll. They have NEVER spent a week ranked AP #1. They have ONE 12 win season all time. No Heisman winners. When you understand the context it’s easier to see why they are willing to ruin any reputation they had for a guy who placed bets on his own team.

@RichEisenShow Texas Tech didn’t do anything except declare Sorsby ineligible. Then NCAA declared Sorsby ineligible. Then SORSBY sued NCAA. Sorsby won the injunction, NCAA lost… at least for now. That’s it, full stop.

@amberwsports I’m not accusing you of anything. I asked a question. What has Tech done wrong so far? As far as the contract goes, he almost signed with LSU if I’m not mistaken. It could’ve been anybody taking him in the portal.

@JimCondit1 I don’t believe I said they had, but the counter arg is Tex T will be playing a player who knowingly violated the rules by betting on his own team compromising the integrity of the entire sport. (there’s also an argument about TT’s involvement in breaking his NIL deal w/Cinncy)
