That’s a bear… serving in the army during WW2. His name was Wojtek. Adopted by Polish soldiers in 1942, he was officially enlisted so he could travel with the unit. During the Battle of Monte Cassino in 1944, he carried artillery shells to the front lines — copying what the soldiers were doing. He became such a symbol of the unit that they put a bear carrying a shell on their official emblem.
