"Capitalism created the possibility of the win win win. It used to be a zero sum game where somebody won, somebody else lost. The biggest mistake people make, intellectuals in particular, they still think we're in a zero sum world. They're obsessed with some billionaires because Bernie Sanders thinks that Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk somehow stole the money from the people. They don't understand that it's this prosperity machine that's creating more, not just for those billionaires, but for everything that they're touching. They're creating value for their customers, they're creating value for their employees. Their suppliers are flourishing, their investors are seeing their capital go up. It can be reinvested and compound. All philanthropy ultimately comes from business. That's where the profits are. Where does all the taxes come from? It ultimately comes from business as well. This is the engine that's lifting humanity out. The entrepreneurs are the drivers of that engine. Somebody like Elon Musk, he gets a very, very, very tiny sliver of the value that he creates for the whole world." —@iamjohnmackey

Every #founder on this list didn’t just raise capital, they earned it the hard way. Through grind. Through doubt. Through days where “maybe” was the only thing louder than “no.” These are the ones still pushing when others would’ve pivoted to comfort. That’s why we spotlight them. If #softwareengineering peace of mind is what you crave, @ventionteams is your zen. Thank you for powering this mission. Without your support, none of this would be possible.

GRAYMATTER SECURES $1.3M IN FUNDING Chicago (shoutout) startup Graymatter Labs just secured a $1.3M seed round led by Venrex and APEX, with Palette Ventures joining in. The funding will scale its flagship nootropic drink mix Bright Mind, a plant-based powder that delivers noticeable cognitive enhancement within minutes, powered by natural caffeine from matcha and guarana for sustained focus without the crash. Founded in 2024 by Jim Phillips (ex-Charm.io VP) and Novisa Petrusich, the bootstrapped brand is said to have grown more than 2,000% Y/Y, with roughly 90% of customers on subscription. Phillips says the raise wasn’t out of necessity but to bolster growth at the right moment. The raise comes as the nootropics market heats up, climbing from $18.5B in 2024 to a projected $73B by 2034, and as wellness brands see a funding frenzy. In just weeks, Bryan Johnson’s Blueprint raised $60M, Unfabled pulled in $1.7M, and Cymbiotika added $25M to fuel its Target rollout.

Building a profitable DTC brand is simple. You just gotta learn photography, videography, media buying, public speaking, creative strategy, economics, accounting, negotiating, demand planning, keep up with international tariffs, have a world class product and a great personality

Clipping is going to become the single most cost-effective way to push top-of-funnel traffic. You can get millions of views for a fraction of the cost, giving you cheaper CPMs, massive brand awareness, and your brand gets distributed across platforms like: TikTok + Instagram + YouTube all at scale. It's a hybrid approach that just makes sense. Get your name out there first, THEN retarget with your normal ad spend - you’ll definitely see a measurable impact on your conversion rates. Your ads work better when people are familiar with your brand. And clipping can work on its own, but it’s also the perfect complement to your existing paid strategy.

By far my favorite episode of this 0-$1M Series. @meetharshkang asked me about things I don't typically get to talk about. Here are the cliff notes: - When you have a good product the best form of marketing is word of mouth - Whitelisting and PR with Wellworthy
