Big news here. Utah is moving its athletics program into a new for profit entity that will be owned by the university, a private equity firm & select donors. Also includes a $500M capital infusion and operational expertise from the equity firm. This is the future.

Many athletic directors, losing faith in waiting for Congress, are now seriously considering collective bargaining with players. Do athletes need to be employees? Who should be the bargaining unit? How many bargaining units and agreements should there be? Do athletic directors even have the power to implement change?
