@flatterkatz @Shadowmuncher5 @Izzy__ACE I don't see it as a "checkmate" situation. I see it as that, with who or whatever set it up, we have no way to know if they are being rational, literal, both, or neither. It's easy to assume "only people understand", but I also can see whatever being set this up being literal.

@Jingo4754 @Shadowmuncher5 @Izzy__ACE ah yes. initially in the first day both blue and red people understood that obviously only rational choosers were meant. But a day later, after seeing the discussions, the original dude said in a post that 0.1% of people saw that babies are in there. Checkmate, red!

Now correct me if I'm wrong it's been a while since I heard this thought expirement If everyone pushed red. Everyone will live. Right? So the logical decision is to push red assuming everyone else will. Because at least some one will push red so might as well we all do to live

@MrBeast Everyone is framing blue as the suicide button when red is the murder button.

@DoctorQuince I think the argument comes from this clarification in the thread that the original poll poster made. Mr. Beast asked to take the poll from him.

@Shadowmuncher5 @Izzy__ACE So what do you do about the children too young to understand the vote? The grieving families who lost children/loved ones to pressing blue for one reason or another wanting to save their children?

@gfodor Thus you find the dilemma parents face. Do they vote blue since they can't know what their children voted for and take the risk in hopes their children are safe, or press red and pray they do not have to bury a child knowing they, and many others, condemned their kid to die.

The funniest thing about the “vote blue to save the children who randomly voted blue” position is that I have seen zero of its promoters consider the children who randomly voted red.

I keep seeing people make up these scenarios where pushing the red button makes you a “murderer” or “sociopath” but it seems as there is literally no logical reason to push anything other than red. There is no variable in which pushing red causes harm to anyone else.
MrBeast@MrBeast

Everyone on earth takes a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press? BE HONEST.

No, the first picture was perfectly accurate. Blue voters are trying to guilt-trip red voters into voting blue to solve a problem they created for themselves by voting blue in the first place. The only difference between this and real life is that in real life the blue voters drag the red voters down with them.

interesting how completely the conversation has shifted to kids. initially, most people assumed we were talking about adults, not babies smashing buttons, which kind of breaks the thought experiment. that this is all we’re now discussing implies blues understand they were wrong.
notsoErudite@notsoErudite

Since everyone was very curious my answer, my answer is obviously blue. Gotta save the naive, the kids, the blue lovers, and the principally hope-pilled people. You red button pickers need therapy.

This is probably clickbait but 100% should press red unless they have issues understanding the prompt All red pressers survive under every circumstance so if 100% of ppl press red then everyone lives.

I think I understand why leftists are seething so hard about the blue/red button (pill) moral dilemma, its similar how they feel we need to "save" those "poor migrants" (who r*pe steal murder etc.) cuz "muh feelings" when in reality it's just suicidal empathy, explains a lot.

@yuliexe @kapi999_ So if I vote red with the intent to live then hunt down and kill other reds for voting red knowing I may lose one of my nieces/nephews that are below 8 years old since they are forced to vote too, and may press blue, is it still natural selection at that point?

@Chadster_man @faggotmaxxx @Johnny_Rocket6 See, i look at it as i cannot guarantee my 6 nieces/nephews, all below 8 years old, are not included in the vote. Whatever higher power forced the vote could easily include them for any reason. sick kicks or data. Unless I see they're not included, I have to operate that they are

@faggotmaxxx @Johnny_Rocket6 Why would the infant child be considered in this question about voting. Like be serious, the spirt of the question is obviously about people who are voting with consciousness and understanding, even if some are smarter or think longer about their person choice than others.

@RipleyLizard @faggotmaxxx @Johnny_Rocket6 by that logic, you could also say whatever higher power is purposely making illiterate babies vote to see if it sways the outcome. They put humanity into a life or possible death game for either a game or a study. Either way, I assume their morals are gone to begin with.

@teameffujoe Question. I have 6 nieces/nephews all under 8 years old, and most likely won't understand. Based on the question, i have no way to ensure they press red, as the vote is private. Everyone means everyone, and there is no "children exempt" clause in that question. What do I do then?

@KrystaIAvatar @Sosickayall @Hockey_Is_All @wokejays First off, that one vote could be the tipping point above 50%. Extremely unlikely, but possible. Second, even if I die for nothing, I died for my own reasons in trying to keep my family alive. Even if I'm called stupid for generations, it beats watching them be buried for me.

@graphtheory I have 6 nieces/nephews all under 8 years old. Based on the question, i have no way to ensure they press red. I would press blue in hopes others will do as well. The worst case scenario there is I die so that they might live. The best case scenario, we all live.

Since the red and blue button discourse is still going on, what makes any of you so sure that people are saying what they’d really pick? It seems obvious from a game theoretic standpoint that you should say blue and press red. My position was would press red and say red too.

@abbythelibb_ I have 6 nieces/nephews below 8 years old who, based on the question, I cannot guide or guarantee press red since its private. Do I press red and hole they do the same, mourning them for not being old enough to understand, or press blue in hopes of keeping them safe?

If everyone takes responsibility for their own lives and presses the Red Button, NO ONE DIES. But people who would rather feel morally superior to a villain of their own imagination can press Blue, I guess. Their funeral.
