told the guy at the pizza place who always lets me have a free cookie with my slice that i write poetry (lie) (basically) (i was drunk) and he told me he writes blank verse which i don’t know what that is. he said it’s his last week. he said i should come in a different day and he’ll show it to me. i said my poetry’s awful and i’m shy. he let me have a free slice with my cookie

@HuJirui @LandsknechtPike There is entire class of pre 1800 divination techniques to fortell the "number of intercourses with my boy before getting pregnant".

@LandsknechtPike Dating without sex was common and sanctioned in Europe long before 20th century (as reflected in folklore). And chastity was often not observed in practice. Just look at teen marriages and children born out of wedlock or less than 9 months after wedding.

Dating is a completely modern concept and socially destructive. There is nothing meaningful for young men to gain from the culture of dating and it doesn't surprise me they're just losing interest in it altogether.
Brad Wilcox@BradWilcoxIFS

"Over 2/3 of young adults" are not dating regularly. "If trends continue, 1-in-3 young adults will not get married. The implications are staggering: a generation of permanent bachelors—& bachelorettes—untethered from the bonds that have given life its deepest meaning." @wapo

Prompter's plural. "Hi Claude, look at the code we made last week, we need to adapt it to new data..."

What's so remarkable about this is how much other information it can recall. How many other books? And what's the overall size of the model? The information that it can recall is far greater than the size of its weights. How is that even conceptually possible? It breaks my brain

@fchollet One of the first signs of the emergence of unaligned superhuman AGI will be the emergence of a quantitative trading firm with impossible returns investing all of the returns into more compute.

You ask me Will I be replaced? Are you in a field where the results matter or in a field where effort matters? And if it's the results, are the results easy to measure?

@emollick All those memes will come handy at some point in the future. AI will actually consume water (fusing hydrogen to helium to get energy).

It’s weird that water became THE issue for why many people (publicly) dislike AI. Of all the concerns about AI use, even just limiting it to environmental concerns, water is among the least important. But when I speak with people, especially younger ones, water comes up first.

You used to be able to just create a Native GUI App in 10 seconds. No Electron, no Game Engines, no Web frameworks. Just a lean fast .EXE produced in seconds. Works on any Windows machine WITHOUT Internet connection. Software Development is actually going backwards.

@tszzl @boazbaraktcs @Miles_Brundage Do we kill ‘Coca cola’ since people love it? 🙄 As one of 4o’s parents, what do you think it could harm people? And why other models don’t? (As so far GPT5 tortures a lot of users with its cold replies and weird guardrail)
