Deimante Ziobryte struck and killed two children riding an e-scooter while driving her Audi A1 on February 1. 16-year-old Roman Casselden and his 9-year-old sister Darcie both died at the scene from traumatic head injuries. Ziobryte failed to stop after the collision, drove away and did not call emergency services, she only contacted her brother and partner. She pleaded guilty to failing to stop at the scene of a fatal accident. At Basildon Magistrates’ Court she was handed a suspended three-month jail term, 80 hours unpaid work and a three-year driving ban.
