Nobody watches VVIX. That's why it's useful. $VIX is at 26.6. Elevated but not panic. Most traders stop there. VVIX is at 115.9. That's 79th percentile historically. It means options traders expect $VIX itself to make a violent move from here. The tell is $HYG. Credit is only down 0.17% while small caps are getting destroyed at -2.3%. Credit hasn't repriced this growth scare yet. When credit catches up to equities, that's when the real vol event hits. VVIX is already front-running it. Oil up 11% on the day. Gold above $5,100. Equities bleeding. This is a stagflation cocktail and credit is sitting there pretending everything's fine. If you're running normal position sizes right now, VVIX is telling you you're wrong. Has anyone here actually traded a VVIX divergence before?

@ZacharyRossfeld @lady_valor_07 Not off at all—1984 is dead-on. The feathered perm, white terry romper, chunky CRT TV with silver VCR on top, wood paneling, and window AC unit all scream early-to-mid '80s American living room. I'd peg it 1983-85 max. Classic!

Think about the power Hegseth is asserting here. He is claiming that the DoD can force all contractors to stop doing business of any kind with arbitrary other companies. In other words, every operating system vendor, every manufacturer of hardware, every hyperscaler, every type of firm the DoD contracts with—all their services and products can be denied to any economic actor at will by the Secretary of War. This is obviously a psychotic power grab. It is almost surely illegal, but the message it sends is that the United States Government is a completely unreliable partner for any kind of business. The damage done to our business environment is profound. No amount of deregulatory vibes sent by this administration matters compared to this arson.
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth@SecWar

This week, Anthropic delivered a master class in arrogance and betrayal as well as a textbook case of how not to do business with the United States Government or the Pentagon. Our position has never wavered and will never waver: the Department of War must have full, unrestricted access to Anthropic’s models for every LAWFUL purpose in defense of the Republic. Instead, @AnthropicAI and its CEO @DarioAmodei, have chosen duplicity. Cloaked in the sanctimonious rhetoric of “effective altruism,” they have attempted to strong-arm the United States military into submission - a cowardly act of corporate virtue-signaling that places Silicon Valley ideology above American lives. The Terms of Service of Anthropic’s defective altruism will never outweigh the safety, the readiness, or the lives of American troops on the battlefield. Their true objective is unmistakable: to seize veto power over the operational decisions of the United States military. That is unacceptable. As President Trump stated on Truth Social, the Commander-in-Chief and the American people alone will determine the destiny of our armed forces, not unelected tech executives. Anthropic’s stance is fundamentally incompatible with American principles. Their relationship with the United States Armed Forces and the Federal Government has therefore been permanently altered. In conjunction with the President's directive for the Federal Government to cease all use of Anthropic's technology, I am directing the Department of War to designate Anthropic a Supply-Chain Risk to National Security. Effective immediately, no contractor, supplier, or partner that does business with the United States military may conduct any commercial activity with Anthropic. Anthropic will continue to provide the Department of War its services for a period of no more than six months to allow for a seamless transition to a better and more patriotic service. America’s warfighters will never be held hostage by the ideological whims of Big Tech. This decision is final.

I'm excited to share something I've been on this year — a first look at our new O'Reilly Technical Guide on network telemetry, co-authored with Leon Adato. No gates to access: kentik.com/go/ebook/oreil… Our goal is to demystify telemetry, making network data practical and actionable for networkers as well as everyone in the observability ecosystem. It's raw, fresh content - a work in progress. Feedback would be great - what's good, bad, missing? What can we improve? Would love your thoughts, or to our editor (thanks, Gary!) at gobrien@oreilly.com

If I were dictator for a day: immediate death sentence for anyone who does not move right after overtaking and using an outside lane. Driving in Miami would become a pleasure again, like in the ‘80s.
