@TFG_Football The same Trent Baalke that drafted the guys that, with a good coach and org, went 13-4. Chad Forbes, where you at.
English

The thing I don't get about Jags fans defending their process is that it's literally what Trent Baalke did and we're just over a year removed from every Jags account on this app having the clown face on it.
This process, over time, consistency leads to bad drafts.
Jordan de Lugo@jordandelugo
Some common refrains I’ve heard in response to the Jaguars draft - arrogant - ignoring consensus I don’t think there is anything arrogant about an org establishing an extremely well thought out and collaborative process for scouting and evaluating talent and people …
English

Think everyone's freaking out about WR playing time.
Will Parker, BTJ, Jakobi & Travis's snaps go down? Probably.
Will they run 13 personnel more that 30% a game? No.
It's all about versatility, having too many targets is a good problem to have. Jags are going to beat opposing defenses using a ton of different personnel/formations next year.
Reminder, Liam Coen said that he had to scale back & simplify the playbook last year. With a full year under everyone's belt your going to see the next evolution of his offense and i'm here for it. #DUUUVAL

@meathead55 I just don’t see this guy panicking. He had 2-3 guys he wanted. I do think Pats took our guy, but think that the TE was on the board there also in case something like that happened. And have no proof or know anything to back any of that up.
English

@J_Collyay It’s so depressing that many of these people make tons of money to say whatever they want while some people have 4 year degrees and live paycheck to paycheck. Sports analysts are truly the new weather men. Just put it out there, don’t necessarily have to be right or accurate.
English

@jordandelugo @SharpFootball @InsideTheGators That’s good material for Coach Coen to motivate. Keep the disrespect coming.

absolutely brutal analysis of the Jaguars draft here:
"The arrogance that James Gladstone demonstrated in this draft is unprecedented.
I have never seen a more pathetic group of players from a team that had four top 100 picks"

@JagsRealist While Lloyd had a great year, by most people’s account it was just the 1 year. Chances that he has another year like that are pretty rare. So I’m not sure front office sees much of a drop off between Lloyd and Ventrell. Lloyds year was truly lightning in a bottle.
English

The only questions on the Jaguars roster to me are:
•Can Ventrell be the guy? And is the current surrounding LB depth good enough?
•Cole Van Lanens injury timeline
The only other question on the roster that I can fathom is if the running back room is ready to step up which I think will be a resounding yes
English

@NFLDraftBites Wow, only 1 year??? Baalke fan? I don’t care either way, but would think judging a GM after one draft is a little harsh. Gotta think the convo between Boselli and Shad was more aligned with understanding team not meeting full potential, dropping the drama, and working together.

@jordandelugo He’s not wrong regarding who drafted who. Last years wins, to me, are more due to the coaching than the new GM. GM still really hasn’t proved himself much. He made some good moves, but he made some bad moves too regarding free agency. Just like a lot of GMs do.
English

@YardLineYoda Not hard for me to realize that Gladstone, Boselli, and Cohen are probably better at drafting professional football players than I am.
English

Much happier with the draft than I was when the first 2 picks happened. Not only because of how the rest of the draft/UDFA went but also I can see the vision with the first 2 guys now.

@BuckyBrooks I definitely don’t think this regime drafts BAP all of the time. They are definitely looking for players that fit their scheme.
English

I will play along since you brought up a piece that was published near the end of last season.
1. Without being in each team’s room to understand how the player fits into their scheme, culture, and plans, we don't fully understand the why behind the selection. While outsiders might like a player at a certain value, it doesn’t really matter if the player doesn’t fit their scheme or preferred playing style. That's why “media” boards are tricky: you’re grading for 32 teams instead of one. When you work for a team, you’re only grading for what the coach/FO prefers and how the player compares to what’s currently on the roster or the ideal vision for the team. Thus, teams will have the same players graded differently due to style preferences, etc.
2. Assigning grades at the end of a season is standard practice for teams. Pro scouts routinely write reports and evaluate their own players to monitor growth and development. Additionally, those reports help drive personnel decisions down the road. Once a draftee plays for his team, it’s fair game BECAUSE he’s playing pro ball. Until the prospect plays, it’s all speculation.
3. As a media member, grades and mock drafts are desired content by the masses. It’s become a version of fantasy football that occasionally overshadows the purity of the scouting process. In the end, scouts focus primarily on whether a player is NFL-caliber and how he can produce for a team or system. The other stuff skews toward entertainment, but doesn’t offer the team much more beyond that

We've lost the plot if draft analysts are trying to make the argument that we should not do draft analysis

@YardLineYoda Feel like it’s hard to get a starter in the draft when you are a good team, but do you think any of these picks really challenge a player for their starting spot? Also do you feel we get 1-2 more free agents now that draft is over?
English

Really happy with how some of the picks day 3 /UDFA signings went.
Tanner Koziol can be a star TE in this league and was my steal of the draft for that position.
Josh Cameron is baby Justin Blackmon with play style…100% makes the team.
Joey Aguilar can compete for QB2
Devon Marshall likely makes the team
They added about 100 UDFA WR’s lol…So may get a good one from that group.
English

Can easily see Pregnon starting week 1. Husky will play a bunch too in the box I reckon. TE gonna play just as much as TE2. Regis maybe not but the other 3 have a good shot
Jason Hamby@Jason_Hamby14
Final thoughts: the #Jaguars got zero immediate impact. that doesn’t mean their draft was bad, just a tough sell. requires patience. Boerkircher will play right away in 12/13 but he’s not a gamechanger. what’s Regis doing game 1? Pregnon ain’t playing. neither is Huskey.
English

@jordandelugo @jordandelugo you don’t think this has anything to do with possibly not resigning Strange, do you?
English

@HaydenWinks Not outsmarting Snead. Could’ve gotten us a QB? Honestly, I feel like all GMs think they are smarter than everyone else. And just listening to Gladstone talk, he definitely thinks he’s smarter. We will see.
English

@Jason_Hamby14 He will grab 2 guys today that will start or either get a lot of reps. 1 being a RB. My prediction.

@LeonSearcyJr1 If it was OL would we feel differently? How many times did we have to put an extra lineman out there to help Trevor stay on his feet. Makes more sense when you think about it like that to me. Blue chip guys to do some dirty work.
