بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم To my Shia brothers and sisters, My invitation to you is not first and foremost to a place, a personality or a historical event. My invitation is to the Book of Allah جل جلاله, the final revelation sent as guidance for all mankind. Read the Quran from beginning to end with reflection. Study its language. Learn Arabic so that you can appreciate the words of Allah جل جلاله directly rather than through the lens of others. Study the authentic Sunnah and the Seerah of Muhammad ﷺ, for Allah chose him as the final Messenger and the perfect example for humanity. Allah جل جلاله says: “And this is My straight path, so follow it, and do not follow other ways, for they will separate you from His way.” Surah Al-An’am 6:153 Every Muslim claims to love Allah جل جلاله. The true test of that love is to follow His Messenger ﷺ as Allah Himself commanded: “Say, if you love Allah, then follow me. Allah will love you and forgive your sins.” Surah Aal Imran 3:31 There is no Muslim who does not love Imam al-Husayn رضي الله عنه. He was the beloved grandson of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, the leader of the youth of Paradise, and a man of immense courage, honour and sacrifice. We ask Allah جل جلاله to be pleased with him and to raise his rank. Yet no created being, regardless of his status, can be given any act of worship that belongs exclusively to Allah جل جلاله. The Quran repeatedly teaches one message from its opening chapters until its conclusion. Worship Allah alone. “You alone we worship and You alone we ask for help.” Surah Al-Fatihah 1:5 “And the places of worship are for Allah, so do not invoke anyone along with Allah.” Surah Al-Jinn 72:18 “Who is more astray than one who calls upon others besides Allah, those who will never respond to him until the Day of Resurrection, while they are unaware of their calls.” Surah Al-Ahqaf 46:5 “If Allah touches you with harm, none can remove it except Him.” Surah Al-An’am 6:17 “If Allah should aid you, none can overcome you, but if He forsakes you, who is there that can aid you after Him? So upon Allah let the believers rely.” Surah Aal Imran 3:160 “And when My servants ask you concerning Me, indeed I am near. I answer the call of the supplicant when he calls upon Me.” Surah Al-Baqarah 2:186 “Call upon Me. I will respond to you.” Surah Ghafir 40:60 These verses establish a principle that every Muslim should reflect upon. Allah جل جلاله never directs us to call upon the Prophets, the righteous, the martyrs or the family of the Prophet ﷺ. Rather, He repeatedly commands us to call upon Him alone. Likewise, Allah جل جلاله says: “Indeed, Allah does not forgive associating partners with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills.” Surah An-Nisa 4:48 Every believer should therefore ask himself sincere questions. When hardship strikes, whose name leaves his tongue first? When he seeks forgiveness, whom does he ask? When he longs for relief, whose help does he seek? The Quran’s answer is clear and consistent. Turn to Allah جل جلاله directly, for He hears every whisper and answers every sincere supplication.
