The rules stop Newcastle making a ‘profit’, but could they in theory cover any losses? For example selling Yoane Wissa for what they initially paid for him.. Not that I think it’s happening just yet.

@jamiefisher222 I thought the same (about recruitment) but we pushed for Ekitike, Mbuemo, Sesko etc. If we'd landed one or two of them I'm certain we'd be pushing. That's what I mean about changing our profile for signings. We can't attract the top players so need to find a balance.

@Joe__McL im assuming if howe is in charge of transfers again we’ll be targeting mainly prem players with a massive price tag. really we should be looking at other leagues, however i do think howe has gone as far as he can and we need an upgrade but it doesnt seem likely

Last summer's failed window has put us back years. Missed targets, alternatives flopped/miss-used, players wanting out. Howe is far from off the hook this season but I feel if we can cling onto stability and deliver in the window we can build again next season. Deep breaths #NUFC

@jamiefisher222 I agree with all of that. We went toe to toe with Man U, Liverpool etc last season and fell flat on our face. I appreciate the ambition but maybe it was naive. We need to get the profile of targeted players absolutely perfect this summer.

@Joe__McL just all depends on how quick we start the window instead of being “interested” in players for a month then actually doing business with a few weeks to go, it also depends who would be willing to come to us if we miss out on europe, not many big players would be keen imo

@birks_wayn10549 Managers defo have a peak and I can't argue against anyone because I've been convinced at times about Howe too. His in-game management has been atrocious. But I'm trying to take a step back and look at the problems he's face and the recruitment issues last summer. It's tricky

@birks_wayn10549 Believe me I've wanted him to walk the plank plenty times this season mate, and that derby had me adamant. BUT, ultimately the club didn't land the key targets and I'd be interested to see if the recruitment structure has learned. The club won't sack him anyway TBH

@Kniller_ The best success we've had has been foreign imports. Eddie seems to have reclused into a safe mode of PL players. Zero value for money in the PL. Surely to god they learned their lesson.

@Joe__McL Big thing for me is keeping the spine strong, lose one or two key players again like we did last summer and the project is thrown back years. Need to build. Hopefully Eddie and Wilson aren’t wedded to the PL for signings like we were last summer.

@Kniller_ It really was. We should be excited about the summer mate but I'm petrified of the club having no plan, or at least failing to execute one. Hopefully we land a cracking player early doors to give us confidence.

@Joe__McL 100%. Didn’t get the DCL slander in the summer, whenever he’s faced us in the past he’s always been a right handful. Would’ve been much more suited to our system than Wissa too. Summer window was shambolic.

@Joe__McL Sorry, EH has to go. We're kidding ourselves if we think he'll ever move away from being a PE teacher wanting bigger, stronger, faster athletes over creative technicians. More than 1 game a season + we're knackered as it's unsustainable. Teams like AV cope, EH can't, simple as.
