This afternoon, Chief Sullivan attended the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Worship Celebration hosted by the Greater Wichita Ministerial League (GWML) at the WSU Metroplex. Thanks to Bishop Herman Hicks for delivering the message, the MLK Celebration Choir, the Next Level Praise

Today, we pause to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the ideals he lived and died for. Dr. King challenged us to choose courage over comfort. Justice over silence. Service over self. And his message still matters in Wichita. As a department, we know this work carries weight. It requires trust. It demands accountability. And it calls for respect in every interaction, with every person, every day. Dr. King asked America to keep moving toward fairness and dignity for all. That challenge didn’t end with a march. It continues in the choices we make now. How do you build a safer community without building stronger relationships? How do you protect people while also honoring their humanity? We will keep striving to uphold the values Dr. King stood for and those of our department. We will keep listening. We will keep learning. We will keep showing up with integrity. We will continue to honor his legacy in our community.

Tonight, I attended Union Rescue Mission’s Annual Celebration. The event was filled with fellowship, inspiring music, and heartfelt testimonials that highlighted the incredible impact the Mission is making. We are truly grateful for URM’s meaningful work in Wichita.

Last night, I had the honor of joining Chief Sullivan at the Wichita NAACP’s 105th Freedom Fund Banquet. We heard from powerful, gifted speakers. We connected with friends, and community partners. And we celebrated the strength, resilience, and unity of our community. 1/2

Chief Sullivan was honored to attend Today’s memorial service at the Kansas Firefighters Museum. We remember and honor the Kansas firefighters who gave their lives in service. We stand with their families. We stand with every firefighter who protects our communities.

Today was a monumental day for the City of Wichita and the Wichita Police Department as we celebrated the ribbon cutting of the new Real Time Information Center (RTIC).

This morning, I stood with the @WichitaFireDept representing @WichitaPolice in WFD’s 9/11 Honor Challenge. I honor all first responders who gave their lives on September 11, 2001. Thank you to the men and women in public safety who answer the call every day. #NeverForget
