Dear #hospital Doc, Seeing a patient in clinic, and then telling them to see their GP to arrange bloods & imaging FOR YOU, and have the results forwarded to you including having radiology transfer images across systems, IS JUST LAZY, and possibly not #Medicare rebateable.

Lovely patient came in and told me they'd 'solved the #Medicare problem'. "If you just ask everyone for $10 that should help cover increasing costs". They were #flabbergasted when I said that was illegal, and that GPs have been asking for it, but Gov wouldn't change it. #auspol

@Peter_Fitz As a citizen of one of those Cwth members that’s not a republic, it felt intrusive to wake up one morning two weeks ago with a new HoS and no say in the matter.

Voting for a new @RACGPPresident starts today and the field is large and interesting but we need someone not in the existing RACGP committees and councils as we cannot negotiate with a Covid headwind that got us huges changes under Dr Karen so now we need a savvy negotiator

@theMJA @GPswampwarrior Most mental health is handled very well by GPs and very few actually require a referral to a psychaitrist especuially as a Psychologist is a far better option in nearly all cases-I always wonder why Psychiatry is seen as more than a special interest

@QLDCountryGP @ian_hickie @Mark_Butler_MP Prof Hickie must offer evidence for his published claims about producivity and a broken system otherwise its not really relevant to the real debate on preserving the GP as the key Dr in the Australian health system who actually do make a difference

@ian_hickie @Mark_Butler_MP @ian_hickie distain for general practice is weird @Mark_Butler_MP. The only specialty that looks at the whole person, & does it incredibly efficiently. Millions of MH specific GP consults p.a. for just 8% of the MH budget. Better access to MH care includes better access to GP.

smh.com.au/national/i-m-t… The ‘GP Crisis’ Media blitz is on; but when the model is broken, productivity is low, workforces don’t exist and pumping in more money is not a great option-perhaps its time for real reform focused on innovation and better care….⁦@Mark_Butler_MP

From next week, the virtual ED program will be rolled out to aged care facilities. Between 80-100 aged care residents are expected to use the service everyday. Vic Ambulance Union’s @DannyHill_VAU says paramedics are currently spending a lot of time with aged care patients.

I don’t appreciate being interrupted while speaking on serious risks of repeated covid infections. I particularly don’t appreciate being interrupted by shouting LNP MPs who refuse to wear masks. We all have a duty to look after each other. Here & everywhere. Put your mask on!

@imaanjoshi @DrRCoull @DoverMarian @Mark_Butler_MP In the 90s the NSW state Govt only started to pay rural GPs better when we all walked out and I still got paid 20% for a low risk delivery in a remote town as a O&G in a city hospital done by their Reg what an ongoing joke
