@elliot_slade @devahaz @AlignDeez @coldhealing I had my motorcycle stolen twice in 6 months. First outside my home in the Marina, next outside my office next to Fishermen’s Wharf. Several neighbors were burglarized in the Marina too. Agree, put aside violence. Are the lawlessness and anarchism still just a talking point?

i thought "sf is dangerous" was fake before i went, paranoid techbros being weird about homelessness. but there's streets where >50% of people in public are homeless and actively on drugs. hard to write about without seeming cruel but i've never seen anything like it in america

A group of pets whose days have clearly been disrupted by Fleet Week

The city of SF needs “Battalion Week.” Most residents would welcome the Army parading through the Embarcadero or Golden Gate Bridge. Plus it wouldn’t disturb pets like Fleet Week does

@JackieFielder_ Agreed. Why doesn’t anyone think of the pets! Put aside inspiring children to advance aeronautics or serve their country. Dogs hate Fleet Week!

Fleet Week is not only massively disruptive to children, the elderly, pets, and really anyone walking on the street. It’s also massively insulting for $100mil military aircraft to be flying above a city with 2,300 homeless children. Your federal tax dollars at work.

@michelletandler Dean does not realize that criminal violence is asymmetrical - only one party consents to the interaction. This measure would deepen that asymmetry and turn one of the few deterrents, guards, into bystanders or victims. Who benefits?

If this passes, the San Francisco economy will change dramatically. Virtually every major retailer downtown (e.g., Walgreens, Lululemon, H&M) has an armed guard in front.

Unfortunately, rather than bring those few hundred career criminals to justice, our politicians have decided to enable them. You might see them breaking car windows, dealing drugs or prowling your street. I would make a different decision.

Rather than enforce laws that are on the books and forfeit this group’s right to live among civil society, our former DA, current Supervisors and others have chosen to forfeit our society’s right to a safe city

This fact is rarely brought up in criminal justice discourse and a similar stat dynamic is surely at play in SF. Making SF safer does *not* require mass incarceration. Quite the opposite actually

@Stefani4CA We’ve had a shortage of officers in SFPD for how many years now? Many residents believe crime is now SF’s #1 issue. Is it possible that $25M is a drop in the $700M bucket when our police have <75% staffing?
