@Danvhtr @RossKneeDeep Even when Biden was in office prices didn’t raise this much.
English

@RossKneeDeep Yes he has. Where was your bitching when Biden skyrocketed the price on everything?
English

@JohnCobraOne @RealCalvin1 Nobody was raising a family of three plus mortgage on minimum wage. Ever.
There didn't even used to be that many minimum wage jobs.
English

@followhear52931 @RealCalvin1 We live in a way tougher time than you and I’ll debate you on this. We are in a mega depression. At least you’ll be able to collect your SS.
English

@JohnCobraOne @RealCalvin1 I was traumatized by our poverty and I never got over it. I never married because I couldn't trust anyone to support me adequately. I will never go through poverty again if I can help it. You are clueless.
English

@Bizkit68390579 @RealCalvin1 No i’d rather argue its boomer policies meant to keep us poor.
English

@JohnCobraOne @RealCalvin1 Wages not keeping up with inflation and going off the gold standard is the bigger issue.
English

@followhear52931 @RealCalvin1 I suggest you read my response to the op
English

@JohnCobraOne @RealCalvin1 Maybe one PROFESSIONAL income. Not a minimum wage income. People w bare bones jobs back then lived like paupers. You just don't know the truth of it because you didn't live back then. My family lived on one income but we were poor. Don't glamorize it.
English

@LiberalLunacy47 @RealCalvin1 Average boomer response “just do better”. The price to income ratio is way higher than what you all had it. The system is specifically rigged to bleed us dry. It’s not about “doing better” it’s about basic living standards back then are not met today via boomer policy’s
English

@JohnCobraOne @RealCalvin1 blah blah blah, its crazy how many people out there are just fine and even killling it, poor people have always existed, its a skill problem, stop crying and do better
English

@mmbuzzs @RealCalvin1 Are you suggesting modern tech shouldn’t keep up with the times? You all inflated basic living standards and called it luxury while you sat on property that raised 10x in price since you bought. Kiss my ass
English

@JohnCobraOne @RealCalvin1 Back then your car didn’t have an air conditioned steering wheel.
Your house didn’t have central AC, stainless appliances or a bourbon ball making ice machine.
Going out was McDs
Everyone wants and thinks they deserve to live like a millionaire. 99% didn’t then & shouldn’t now

@NowUlta27434 @RealCalvin1 I suggest you look at my response to the op old ass ashy boomer

@SenWarren You know what else got dropped? Spirit airlines because of you and all you boomers in office.

You are ignoring the historical reality that, during the boomer era, the federal minimum wage was structured as a living wage capable of supporting a family. In 1968, when the real purchasing power of the minimum wage peaked at the equivalent of about $14.81 in today’s dollars, a full-time worker earning $1.60 an hour can buy a home enough to keep a family of three ABOVE the federal poverty line after inflation adjustment. Up through the early 1980s, one minimum-wage earner could support a family of two above poverty and get close for a family of four, thanks to wages that hadn’t yet been eroded by decades of stagnation. Boomers entered adulthood when the minimum wage delivered real security: housing, food, and basics were affordable on entry-level pay because policy treated it as a floor for decent living, not pocket money for teenagers.
Today’s $7.25 federal minimum wage, unchanged since 2009 btw and now worth over 40% LESS in real terms than its 1968 peak. This makes the boomer’s position ahistorical and disconnected from arithmetic. A full-time minimum-wage worker earns just $15,080 annually before taxes, landing BELOW the poverty line for any family of two or more. Even two full-time minimum-wage parents with two kids fall just short of the poverty threshold for a family of four ($31,200). The erosion isn’t abstract: since the boomer era, home prices, healthcare, and education have skyrocketed while the real minimum wage has been allowed to wither, forcing families into dual full-time work or deeper debt just to tread water. What boomers could achieve on one paycheck now requires two incomes plus overtime, proving the system didn’t “naturally” shift, it was deliberately devalued. Now if you want to discuss affordable due to the housing market that’s a different subject.

@JohnCobraOne Basic homes. Most places have a variety of prices. There are homes for 150k dollars and homes for 25million dollars. 150k home is about 1k a month. That is doable to most adults. Can they afford the 600k home right away? No but it's a start and that's the entire point.
English

@RealCalvin1 So you’re telling me boomers were able to find basic homes on minimum wage? Did you not just defeat your own argument? If you’re holding out on where to find a home please let me know 🙏. You also fail to mention that those “basic homes” now are worth 10x what they paid for it.
English

@JohnCobraOne Boomer era as you call it didn't involve half million+ dollar luxury homes in the suburbs on a single income entry level job. They were for the most part pretty basic homes in not the best areas.
English

@RealCalvin1 All these boomers wanna tell me how hard it is when our price to income ration is way higher then what you had it. Our homes are built out of cardboard now while yours is still standing worth 10x what you paid for it.
English

@RealCalvin1 Back then in boomer era you could own a home have 3 kids and work on one income. Didn’t matter what is was either. Your argument is invalid and needs to be destroyed. I’ll debate you on this.
English

@michelemccarrol @imfat Price to income ration is way higher than what you all had back then. But you boomers don’t seem to give a shit about that statistic for some reason.
English

@JohnCobraOne @imfat Remember one thing our salaries were much lower … I made 140 bucks a week at an explosives plant !!!
English

@MrCrowley692386 @OKbeekeeper @imfat I bet you’re balding, squinting at a short distance, memory fading, skin peeling, and knees breaking.
English

@OKbeekeeper @JohnCobraOne @imfat He has no idea why his grandparents had 800 cans of Campbell's soup, baked beans, ate egg salad or shit on a shingle.
Hes just an ungrateful, entitled 20 year old that needs to go buy avacodo toast and $10 latte every morning. I bet he's got plenty of grass, beer and video games
