At today's @G7 talks with @bankofengland Andrew Bailey and @Ed_Miliband, I reiterated the need for a swift resolution in the Middle East. This is not our war and we won't be drawn into it, but its economic impacts are global - we must work with partners to strengthen resilience.

Earlier today the @neso_energy announced a new British wind energy generation record 💪 Yesterday (Wednesday 25 March) wind generated a new high of 23,880 megawatts, beating the previous record of 23,825MW set on 5 December. Commenting on this fantastic achievement, our Chief Executive Tara Singh (@RenewableUKCEO) said: “It’s great to see a new British record, with enough power generated for 23 million homes, at a time when strengthening our homegrown energy security is uppermost in people’s minds due to global instability. “Wind provided more than half of Britain’s electricity during this record period, and it’s highly significant that earlier in the day low-cost wind and solar squeezed expensive gas off our energy system - with gas falling to its lowest level of generation for nearly two years, providing just 2.3% of our electricity. After years of delay, the Future Homes Standard is finally out. Solar panels, heat pumps, and insulation standards are all welcome - but this still feels like half a plan, when the scale of the housing crisis demands the whole lot.
