I am definitely not filled with hate. But I do observe and analyze things. Here’s what would behoove Catholics and others in the West to keep in mind as they continue to preach and practice what I view as “empathy gone wrong”: Not too long ago I read a true crime story of an elderly woman who was killed in her home by a man who I think she had hired to do some work. Her daughter often visited the killer in prison and eventually even forgave him. When he got out of prison, remarkably she offered him room and board. In return, he then brutally killed her. The moral of this story to me is that while Christians are expected to extend empathy in the world, they are not expected to walk blindly through this world putting themselves &/or their loved ones in harm’s way to do so. In fact, Christians must not get so lost in acts of empathy that they forget to safeguard their own lives & ways of life too.

So many of you are filled with hate. You justify it by pointing to tragedies in Africa, or religious leaders meeting with one another. Your hearts are dark. You use titles and memberships like Christian or Catholic and somehow think this will save you. It won’t.
