This is not a laughing matter to those of us who have been through the suffering and death of a loved one while systematically denied the the assistance of immediate family members because of a government that cannot differentiate between casual and essential travel. Disgusting.

She’s still acting like the threat is coming from Ottawa rather than the US president who keeps threatening our sovereignty. It’s a choice.
Danielle Smith@ABDanielleSmith

It has been a full week since U.S. President Donald Trump and the Canadian government reached a border security agreement that included a 30-day window to demonstrate our nation’s commitment to securing our shared border against fentanyl trafficking and illegal migration. A key part of this agreement was the promised appointment of a ‘Fentanyl Czar’ to coordinate this effort between Canada’s various federal agencies, the U.S. government, and the provinces. Alberta is perplexed and concerned by the delay in appointing this Fentanyl czar and calls on the federal government to do so without further delay. There is much work to be done, and while efforts to strengthen border security and crack down on fentanyl trafficking have begun across the country, these efforts will have limited effect without a federal lead to coordinate the national response. This week, I will be joining my fellow Premiers in Washington, D.C., to advocate for a stronger U.S.-Canada trade and security partnership. It is incumbent upon the Prime Minister @JustinTrudeau to appoint the border czar in the coming days to support the Premiers’ and his own Ministers’ efforts in this regard. Alberta also reiterates its call for a federal election to be held in March, immediately following the selection of the new Liberal leader on March 9, so that our country can negotiate a renewed trade agreement with the United States from a position of strength. Failure to do so risks the imposition of tariffs that will cost the livelihoods of hundreds of thousands of Canadians.

@smeurrens @TTRRMK Any room for common sense? The IRCC is often like a Kafkaesque bureaucratic nightmare.

Borderlines Podcast #141 - Deanna and I discuss what seems to be a growing interpretation at IRCC that visitor records are cancelled when someone leaves Canada. What is occuring with some frequency is this. A family enters Canada, with the parents receiving three-year work permits and the children granted three-year visitor records. After one year, the family travels abroad for a month. Upon their return, the Canada Border Services Agency stamps the children's passports but does not issue new visitor records or indicate an extended stay. Before the parents' work permits and the children's visitor records expire, the family applies to extend their status. IRCC approves the parents' work permit extensions but informs the family that the children's visitor records were automatically canceled when they left Canada. IRCC explains that upon re-entry, the children were only granted a six-month stay because CBSA did not issue new visitor records or mark an extended date in their passports. While the parents' new work permits are approved, the children are ordered to leave Canada. shows.acast.com/659f464c3f6907…

@ellinst @marceelias As an American citizen living abroad who spends nearly a thousand dollars each year just to file my US tax return if I’m denied the right to vote I demand my money back. No other country in the world requires non resident citizens to file and pay income tax.

@CryptoPal4 @MarioNawfal Starlink has no monopoly. There is Rodgers and Telus and Bell who have been taking government handouts and promising rural broadband expansion for years even after it became patently obvious that their technology was not up to the task and take many more years to do anything.

@MarioNawfal 1. These are loans from Canada and QC. 2. They’ve been investing in Telesat since 2021 3. Telesat will invest $4.4B into the Canadian economy. 4. Why does Starlink think they should have a monopoly?

🇨🇦 Canada to Spend $2.5 Billion on Sat Broadband—Elon Says Starlink Could Do It for Half Canada and Quebec are investing $2.5B in Telesat Lightspeed, a satellite constellation aimed at delivering broadband to remote regions. But Elon says Starlink could provide the same service "for less than half the cost," leveraging its existing constellation of over 5,000 low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites. Telesat aims to launch 198 satellites by 2026, while Starlink's network is already operational, with global coverage and millions of users. hmmm... Source: The Canadian Press

@ShawDirect why is it a subscriber who wants to cancel they must go through a voice call to CS? Not a problem if the phones were answered and staffed. Requiring a customer to waste hours on hold with no alternative is abusive behavior. It should be as easy as subscribing.

@LauraLoomer You want to live in the only country where this occurs with such frequency. Propose viable solutions or live with your right to choose to sacrifice your children. The patchwork of laws that exist only proves that without a national solution we will continue down this road.

Don’t let Democrats use a school shooting to tell you and others that you need to give up your guns. 14 year olds can’t buy guns. This is evidence that gun control doesn’t work. When someone wants to kill someone, they will always find a weapon even if they legally can’t have one. Sad story but it’s more of an example of bad parenting than “gun violence”. Gun violence is a conspiracy theory. Inanimate objects can’t be violent. Mental illness and bad parenting are real though.

@CitImmCanada @AskKubeir Please explain why you use the term ‘non-routine ‘when asked by a specific applicant for the specific reason their application is delayed beyond standard processing time. A factual specific answer would go a long way in giving the IRCC credibility vs a vague response.

@RaquelDancho Same time frame it took me 18 months to get PR after moving to Canada at age 64. At age 68 it took 22 months to be vetted for citizenship. From a friendly country married 30+ years to a Canadian and never had a single police encounter. Something is fishy. The IRCC is mismanaged.

BREAKING: Trudeau’s Public Safety Minister says allowing an alleged ISIS terrorist to live in Canada for 6 years and gain Canadian citizenship, only to be arrested days before launching a terrorist attack, “is the way the…system should work.” The Liberal government must explain to Canadians how this security failure happened on their watch. #cdnpoli

@ryangerritsen @brethordark The IRCC is not an accountable or transparent agency. It often takes years to process apps. It should not surprise anyone that in a crisis they can’t come up with simple facts surrounding how and when they processed an individual with a questionable possibly terrorist background.

TOMORROW 🚨🚨🚨 The Public Safety committee will reconvene to discuss how a terror suspect and former ISIS fighter, who was filmed torturing people, immigrated to Canada and became a citizen. Canadians deserve to know the truth and the liberals must allow for an investigation.

@betsy_kane @Andrew_Griffith The current system doesn’t allow applicants to choose in person or on line oath ceremonies. A year ago I was not given a choice and was disappointed to attend on line after an almost 2 year wait. It should be an occasion to celebrate not dismissed as perfunctory Bureaucracy
