So when I was in 6th grade, during my brief stay in honors English, the class did book reports on Ethan Frome, Anne of Green Gables, etc but I chose to do my book report on the novelization of the movie Krull. Well, after a very Handmaiden’s Tale-styled shame circle led by our classroom Aunt Lydia, Mrs. Norman, I was removed from the class as not “honors material”. I was banished to the grade’s English class for ne’er-do-wells. My new teacher, who the teaching staff in those days referred to as ‘flamboyant’, spent the semester having us read Poe, became the favorite teacher of my academic career, and began my love of reading horror which led to me being a published horror author. So as a 🖕to all those who participated in Mrs. Norman’s shame circle, I want to give a shout out to some of my favorite horror movie novelizations.
