I’ll always champion peaceful protest. But the Unite the Kingdom march organisers are peddling hatred and division. We’ve already blocked visas for far-right agitators who want to come here to spew their extremist views. They don't speak for the decent, fair, respectful Britain I know.

The merger of @CranfieldUni and @KingsCollegeLon is another great gain for Bedfordshire. It is great news! This new global institution will bring investment, talent and recognition to the county. Cranfield is at the centre of the Oxford-Bedford-Cambridge growth corridor.

We are outperforming growth forecasts yet again. Ours is a government taking decisive action in the best interests of the British people.

I attended Podington Parish Council yesterday evening. We discuss local policing and specifically issues relating to Santa Pod Raceway. I assured the council that whether you live in a rural or urban area in Bedfordshire you are entitled to an effective police service. I committed to follow up on a number of issues raised in what was a constructive conversation.

I welcome the announcement of the new Police Reform Bill in the King's Speech today. Reform is necessary, and this is a real opportunity to improve performance and outcomes for the public. I will scrutinise the detail of the Bill, and champion the interests of Bedfordshire.

Rebuilding our relationship with Europe matters. I headed to Brussels today to meet with @steph_sejourne as we deepen UK-EU cooperation on our industrial strategy. A closer relationship with Europe benefits Britain - it creates jobs, strengthens trade and increases our security.

Business secretary Peter Kyle says he wants eight more years of Keir Starmer as Prime minister. “I want eight years of delivering for the people of this country, led by the prime minister that we have now, that is actually delivering.”

Under 2 years ago, Labour was elected with a 174 majority for a 5-year Parliament to restore stability, focus on the cost of living and start a decade of change. Wednesday’s King’s Speech will set out the next stage of that renewal. Last week showed why this should be our focus.
