@JohnWincott He’s actually fine with the cone and it needs to stop him pawing his face incl with front paws (which is loves to do regardless since he likes to paw his moustache) so the cone is the only option.

I feel terrible having Oscar put through another op again (and more cone time) since it seems unfair but it is vet recommended and he is an otherwise happy dog still and I want to keep him like that as long as possible…..

@AdamWagner1 While that is absolutely correct regarding the passage of laws, etc. Is there some difference in, for example, the population of the various committees if one party has a very large cohort, with much smaller numbers of opposition members available for selection?

All this talk of a "supermajority" is nonsense in our system where a government with any majority basically controls the parliamentary agenda and can pass laws as it wishes. The only real exception to this is when a party has a small majority, and that small majority cannot reliably be controlled by the government, e.g. Theresa May. But a decent sized majority - like Johnson's 80 - is not really different in practice to a 200 majority. Or a 400 majority. Because as long as there aren't enough MPs willing to rebel (and there never really were for this government), the government is able to win votes in the House of Commons.
