Shit... I was in sport in the late 70s and through the 80s and my parents only came out to a game a couple of times.
I swore I would be there for my kids' games and I've only missed a couple of games. And those were only because me and my wife had to split which games to go to.

I asked my dad if parents were involved in kids sports when he was a kid in the 60s. He told me one time a dad came to watch an inning or two of a little league game, and it was such a big deal to have a parent watching that the coach changed the batting order so he could see his kid bat.
