@fperrywilson What's your take on the diterpenes in coffee, such as cafestrol? I have read those notably raise LDL? In a few studies I think it raised it up to 10%. Also what volume are you using as a cup of coffee...8oz? Thanks.

Zooming in to one such area provides a potential causal link. Caffeine lowers VLDL which lowers CV risk.

Dietary surveys at baseline mapped intake of coffee, tea, or other caffeine sources to long-term medical follow-up data. I broke down the (fully adjusted) results here. Roughly halving of CV morbidity risk. Seems high, certainly. Confounders no doubt still present. But still.

This is stupid. I own a house worth 2 million and have multiple 7 figure investment portfolio. Why should I have to pay 8% more to the government if I decide to sell any of these things??? If the government was responsible with their spending, I could stomach a tax increase. But they are completely irresponsible with their spending so taxing more is not going to solve the spending problem. The solution is to cut back on government.

This is not 2008. Then every bank had a similar portfolio - mortgages - and home prices were falling. SVB has a very unique balance sheet. And unlike 2008, banks today are very highly capitalized and operate with significant regulations. The SVB matter is a classic run on a bank.
