@Jfrdydtdht true, it's best not translated every time, but the Supreme Soviet specifically as the iconic legislative body became best known with this Russian loan word, in most English literature online you find it referred to as that, not the "Supreme Council"

@JohnnyMcnuke Also if so, will anyone name Council of Federation as Soviet of Federation? Soviet is term in Eng lang deeply tied with USSR so no need to name every Soviet(Sovet) which means Council as Soviet

@CharlemagneClub At least Hungary and Poland have some alternatives, in the form of Mi Hazanak and Konfederacija. In Romania, the MAGAtard slopulist party is our only option besides replacist neolibs, with no other nationalist force in sight. I hate it here.

Quite reminiscent of Poland - the youth rejects boomer slopulism. PiS got only ~15% in 2023 This is what happens when you prioritize boomers’ pensions, flood the country with LEGAL immigrants, and go against Europe We need a better right wing in Europe @charlemageclub/note/p-190301266" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">substack.com/@charlemageclu

@squatsons The next election is two years away and the KMT would have to win it, which is far from guaranteed, for this to turn into anything. IIRC KMT officials were making regular trips to the mainland pre-2016 and nothing came of them.

@Aleksandar88338 The optimist in me thinks this is a 4d chess move to regroup their forces, while trying to not look like unreasonable in front of their allies keeping the strait closed. The pessimist in me thinks this is the work of those who learned nothing from the past 3 years. We'll see.

@teleoros @DEXVirus Prin "alianță reală" am vrut sa spun o alianță cu un obiectiv comun (fie el bun sau rău) care acționează coerent și uniform, lucru care a fost valabil la începutul războiului din Ucraina.

@AcademicAgent_X Hot take: the orange retard paid no attention to Russia's campaign in Ukraine and didn't realise that 1. destroying a whole power grid is quite hard and takes months, and 2. it's still not enough to collapse a state. Unless he actually intends to use strategic nukes.

@M12RUS I may be optimistic, but refugees are only a fraction of total arrivals. 1,4 million Syrians entered Europe since 2011, less than half of usual yearly arrivals - most who come are economic migrants. Plus you'd need a complete collapse of Iran for that, which looks unlikely.

@JohnnyMcnuke Destroying the Middle East = more and more immigrants = more immigrants way to Europe, fuck trump and all his allies, he is the devil himself and I hope Europe, Japan, Korea and Australia alongside Canada can run from that bastard

@Hootcel Lack of a unique and coherent national identity is probably the biggest reason since even Poland was a regional power once despite its exposed geography. Can't do much when for most of history your own people saw themselves as a part of Russia.

@SomeoneFromTh10 @Gior8g @TchnlgclSnglrt @BirthGauge With Russia, the problem is that birth rates stayed low while life expectancy continued to rise from ~65 in the 90s, to 74 now. Had it stayed the same, they would have ~20 million less people, but a median age of ~37. As for the future, time will tell, for now it looks bleak.

@JohnnyMcnuke @Gior8g @TchnlgclSnglrt @BirthGauge As you said, this was when it BEGAN. You can't have low median age with declining population for more than 1 generation. This is something we have to learn living with, because it is mathematically impossible to avoid. One could argue it's an easier challenge than overpopulation

@spandrell4 It's even worse when you consider that ~20% of births are of foreign origin. The number of ethnic italian births is around 280.000 for ~54 million native italians, or 5.2 per 1000. On par with South Korea.

@SomeoneFromTh10 @Gior8g @TchnlgclSnglrt @BirthGauge The difference is that the high life expectancy of today means you have too many dependants at the top of the pyramid. The bulk of declining populations in the past was likely still in their 30s. Example: Russia when it began losing people in 1992. The median age was still 34:

@JohnnyMcnuke @Gior8g @TchnlgclSnglrt @BirthGauge While I see the point, clearly populations can not keep growing forever. And a shrinking population will by definion always have a "bad structure". There is no escaping mathematically

@JohnnyMcnuke @mi233695 @panacheplumeux The one-child policy was strictly enforced in northeastern China. Unlike the south which had a large farming population, this region had a large number of workers in state-owned mines and forestry, and therefore was under strict control by the Communist Party.

Map of China's Fertility rate, 2000. These values are calculated using the no.of 0 year olds (with underreporting factors eliminated) and the number of 20-44 year old women for each province. Probably quite surprising, but China's Fertility rate was already very low 30 years ago.

@mi233695 @panacheplumeux Interesting how deindustrialisation and economic decline in the American Rust Belt did not result in fertility rates below ~1,4-1,5, even among Whites, while the Northeast is heading to ~0,5. Is it something specific about this region?

@M12RUS Biden allowed ~20 million migrants in just 4 years, the facade of a more serious government masked downright treason. Trump stopped that and may even get to net negative migration, yet all is thrown away because he's the first president with an Israeli agent in his own family.

@mi233695 Is there a reason why Han populations outside of China proper (Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia) all have such abysmally low birth rates?
