Pillars, my 4th collection of poetry, is now available for purchase on Amazon in paperback, hardback and ebook. Written in memory of my father, who passed away on February 18th, 2023, this collection is the most difficult thing I’ve ever put to print. amazon.com/dp/B0DTGN8YXW?…

@winterduck04 Stalag 17 is another good one if you are looking to add to your watch list. Another is 1987’s Escape from Sobibor, which recounts the true story of Jewish prisoners revolting against the overseers of a Nazi death camp in WWII. 300 participated in the revolt; 58 survived the war.

but fr ones that are based of the true stories of the prisoners are so interesting to me, looking at all the different escape plans and knowing how many failed, and i love when they have a happy ending of people managing to escape

my favourite part of ww2 films set in pow camps is that there’s always a group of people putting on a show, like yep this is a perfect time for Hamlet

@AnthonyAlaimoCA Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy. It is a good book, don’t get me wrong, but the violence depicted is not for the faint of heart.

@ElementasSeries My longest poetry collection to date is only 108 pages (as poetry collections tend to be shorter). Some of the best works I’ve read by favorite poets don’t surpass 200 pages. Page count means little in the grander scheme.

Someone found out my first book is 277 pages and said, "Books less than 300 aren't worth my time." I've read many fantastic reads that were less than 300 pages. How sad to miss out on good books because of a page count.

@stephenRB4 They could make as many films or television shows as they’d like, it will never outshine the brilliance of the Peter Jackson Film Trilogy, which has aged like the finest of wines.

Reports that a ‘sequel’ is being made to the Lord of the Rings movies. This is a very, very bad idea.

@FawnPoet I already turned thirty-eight in January, though I blame the grey in my beard to the annuls of fatherhood.

@DavidAtkins75 I will have to add it to my ever-growing list of books to be read. I myself wrote a collection of poems coping with the loss of my father, so I can understand the grief which permeates from the soul onto paper.

@JonSimaPoet I sat down and read this book of poetry about a man and how he struggles through the deaths of his father and older brother. It’s incredible. The two of us went to the same high school, 40 miles north of Pittsburgh. Check it out!

If you found out one of your favorite writers didn’t share your political beliefs or they possessed values which you believed were abhorrent, would you stop reading their work? I hear this a lot now when Stephen King’s name is mentioned.

@Feather_Chelle Thank you. It gets better as time goes along, but still hits in waves. The poetry helped to write in the moment, yet took so long to edit, as rereading some of those took me back to those painful memories.

#WritingCommmunity Is your book available on KU and just might be in need of reviews? Post the link, and I’ll add it to my list. I just happen to have 5 slots available in my library for once. :)

I turn 35 today! Last year was a weird one, but I’m happy to be heading into this next one with a number of wonderful things on the horizon. As is my birthday ask, let me know your favorite scifi/fantasy/horror/weird lit fic short story recommendations. They bring me joy :)

@SophiaLiam25212 How about a volume of poetry for your consideration? This one dealing with the loss of my father a month before the birth of my and my wife’s youngest child. I keep it as my pinned post as a way to honor his memory. amazon.com/Pillars-Poems-…

It's almost april so I'm once again asking for your books. Every April I pick 4-10 indie books to read and possibly review. While I like standalone horror and scifi, I'm open to any genre right now. So, go nuts. Drop your links below!

@Sophie_Bowns Keep a file with these ideas on-hand for a later date. From experience, I can tell you it takes a lot of trial and error before finding what works. For instance, I am least experienced with nonfiction, and as such, that project is slower going than my poetry collections.
