The stabbing attack in London's Golders Green is horrendous, pure antisemitic evil that has no place in the world, and especially in the camp opposing genocide and war. All should join in condemning it and calling UK authorities to protect the safety of the Jewish communities - but the duplicity of those that condemn this attack while condoning the daily racist assault against innocent Palestinians is staggering. Breaking News from Deir al-Balah: A Political Shift in Gaza Three out of the four winning lists in the municipal elections in Deir al-Balah— List #1 “Peace and Construction,” List #2 “Deir al-Balah Unites Us,” and List #3 “Future of Deir al-Balah”—have formed a governing coalition. Together, they hold 9 seats, representing a broad alliance of independent figures and internal Fatah opposition. They will govern against List #4 “Deir al-Balah Development,” affiliated with Fatah loyalists to President Mahmoud Abbas. Mr. Khalil Abu Samara has been elected as the first mayor of Deir al-Balah in 21 years—a historic milestone for the city. Notably, 3 out of the 9 council members are women, marking an important step toward inclusive local governance. Even more significant: All elected council members—and the 16,000 voters who participated—have effectively endorsed a political path grounded in institutional legitimacy, including respect for agreements between the Palestine Liberation Organization and Israel. This matters. It reflects: A rise of pragmatic, reform-oriented leadership A shift toward governance over factionalism A clear signal that local Palestinian society is ready for responsible leadership and constructive engagement This moment should be recognized and supported. But the point is to admit to those mistakes, not to double down on them.

Settler violence against Palestinian communities in the West Bank is neither accidental nor the work of a few bad apples. It is a tool wielded by the Israeli government in service of a deliberate policy of ethnic cleansing and terror against the Palestinian people. Amichai Shikli, Minister of Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism, recently visited a settler militia directly responsible for the attempting murder of three Israeli peace activists in the West Bank, offering them his open support. He has called explicitly for the occupation and Jewish Settlement of every inch of the Occupied Territories. That the minister tasked with “combating antisemitism” is actively promoting pogroms against innocent civilians, precisely the kind of violence inflicted on Jewish communities across Europe by antisemitic mobs, would be deeply ironic, if it weren’t so grotesque. These violent criminals and those who direct them must be brought to justice. End the occupation now!

The level of Israeli settler terrorism in the West Bank over the past couple of days, not to mention the horrific months-long patterns, trends, and upward trajectory, has surpassed any known boundaries of norms that we’ve ever witnessed in the Israel and Palestine conflict. Recently, a Jewish settler was killed in a car crash. However, through the power of manipulation and lies by settler leaders, ministers, and Israeli government officials, his death was turned into a massive rallying cry for a thousand-plus settler terrorists to engage in caveman-like behavior, attacking any and every Palestinian they see, burning dozens of Palestinian villages, destroying homes, cars, beating Palestinians up, and completely ignoring the fact that the Islamic Republic of Iran is raining death and destruction upon both Israelis and Palestinians using its ballistic missiles. Let there be no mistake about this terror: it is fully protected and enabled by the IDF (Israeli military); it is fully enabled, supported, and encouraged by the Israeli government; it is fully ignored and sidelined by large swaths of the “pro-Israel” community who choose, yes, actually choose, to remain silent about violence and terror from Israelis and radicalized Americans from New Jersey and Brooklyn. At some point, there have to be red lines within the pro-Israel community to say not in our name; at some point, Israel’s legitimate security needs must be separated from fascist terrorists who are the worst representation of extremist religious supremacy acting with impunity and without any fear of consequences. At some point, if you don’t want terms like ethnic cleansing, apartheid, and Judeo-fascism to be used to describe what’s happening in the West Bank, then you need to actually confront the agents of chaos, death, and instability who are acting against the interests of Israel, the U.S., the region, and any decent human being wishing to witness peace between Israelis and Palestinians. Peace requires a hell of a lot more than calling out Islamist terrorism – enough is enough! Stop killing, besieging, terrorizing, attacking, burning, and seeking to ethnically cleanse harmless civilians going about their lives in Palestinian villages and cities.
