@agadmator Actually the proper 1,2,3 in order finally. I cant stand hikaru sitting on his rating for nearly 1 year after fabiano fell sick in tata steel last year and losing his 2nd spot.

I think I have said before that nobody's crossing 2810 for at least the next 4-5 yrs, not even a Carlsen reincarnate. It is ~2760ish which is equivalent to the 2800 of the past decade.

Honestly, a very wise decision by Gukesh & Team. He's been playing non-stop chess while not being in a great shape, which has definitely not helped matters.
Perhaps the break might help him to finally snap out of the bad run of form & reset mentally. Hope for the best! 🤞

My performance in the last few events has been quite disappointing, not just for me, but for all of you who support me. In order to find my best form my team and I have decided that I should compete with slightly less intensity over the next few months. Consequently, we feel it is in my best interest to skip long events away from home to allow for more dedicated training time. With this in mind, I approached the Grand Chess Tour organizers and asked to play only two European Rapid & Blitz events. They were very supportive and understanding, and we agreed that I would participate in the Rapid & Blitz tournaments in Warsaw and Zagreb this year. I’m very grateful for their support. Respectfully, I am not planning to play any other events during the Grand Chess Tour schedule and will certainly be back for the full Grand Chess Tour in the future".

@Jon__snow____ The 2 Rapid & Blitz events he's playing in Poland & Croatia are scheduled for May 3 - May 10 & June 29 - July 6 respectively, with the Norway Chess sandwiched b/w from May 25 - June 5, so he may presumably spend 2 months in Europe playing & training, returning home thereafter.
